Typical Irish pub. The food was okay. The cider was good. The waitstaff were okay, not very attentive.

The best stew I have ever had! They were even closing up and stayed open for us. The perfect food to set off my Irish experience right! I have tried to make it myself but nothing compares. Incredible food and a great staff! Nom Nom!

The drinks are well priced but I’d say this is more of a hit it and quit it spot. Grab a drink guzzle it down and leave; however, being my first time in Dublin I decided to get the sausage. Learn from my mistake and steer clear of their food. Overall not the worst place I’ve been while on vacation here but not the best first impression of a new city.

Holy heck! With 30 mins before our movie at the Savoy, we looked around for somewhere to sit. Madigans, sure why not? The interior is kinda nice, especially down back, with all the exposed brick work. Yes, we sat down back as that was the only table available. Well folks, the lads facilities are down back, and let me say the stench of old dry urine was eye watering. Have they never cleaned the place? Have they never heard of domestos? My cats litter box smells more hygenic after a weeks worth of business in it. There were people eating all around us, and all I could think was«why would you order food from a place where the stentch of toilet is overwhelming???» We left without finishing our minerals. Kitchens and bathrooms people. if your bathrooms not clean, your kitchens not clean!

Very cool bar staff. They notice you as you come through and everyone is welcoming. I get the feeling this place could get busy, but we were there just after work for drinks and the crowd was normal/small. I drank Guiness and the pours were grand. I also noticed the selection and pours for wine looked well too. When on O’Connell Street for drinks, then I would come back here. Edit: Sometimes there’s an off smell inside. I think it’s from the cleaning products, but it can make your nose unhappy.

On Connolly street you don’t expect to find the best pub in the world and Madigans certainly isn’t the best pub in the world. But it also isn’t the worst. The barmen were attentive and quick with a joke; the food that came out of the kitchen certainly looked decent although we didn’t sample any; the chairs at the bar were comfortable; not too highly priced. But that was about the best of it. Apart from the overwhelming smell of urine there was not much else to report. Seen better, seen worse.

I had my first ever Guinness here. So this pub will have a special place in my heart and will be remembered dearly. Staff was very friendly, guests a little bit on the«old» side but the entire atmosphere was typical for a pub which is located at one of Dublin´s main streets. Stopping here for a quick pint is recomandable.

Madigans Madigans Madigans, it is in such a great location and it is always full of tourists who have just got off the bus/taxi, I sometimes hope they don’t think all of Irish pubs are like this, Pint is average price and it doesn’t be teh best, staff are fine but what really let’s down this place is the toilets, I have been here in the mornings and they still smell, there is no excuse for that 2⁄5 and only because I am feeling generous.

I recently moved into an apartment just about 10 minutes away from O’Connell Street and in my search for casual places close to home that serve good food and drinks, I came across Madigans. Although the service is sometimes a bit slow when it’s busy, the staff are all really friendly and willing to stick around for a chat. The triple-decker club sandwich is hands-down my favourite club sandwich in the Dublin area and, trust me, I’ve tried a lot of club sandwiches! It’s got chicken, bacon, tomato, onion and a fried egg and is served with chunky, yet still crispy, chips. Ask for garlic mayo on the side and you’ve got yourself a delicious, filling lunch, for under € 10.

I will never forget Madigan’s. It was here where I have seen the light and had a life-changing, earth-shattering experience — My first authentic pint of Guinness. My friends and I came here on our first night(a Saturday night at around 8) for dinner. The only thing that annoyed me was that we were never greeted by anyone. Since we didn’t know if it was standard to seat yourself in Dublin(not that there were any tables available), we kind of just walked awkwardly to the back and loitered by the bar. We finally got a waiter’s attention and he just told us that it would be a wait, though he didn’t say how long. So we decided to sit by the bar. The bartender(who I’m guessing was also the manager) was nicer — told us it would be a 15 minute wait or so. So that’s when we ordered our drinks and my view of Guinness was changed forever. The food — I ordered fish and chips. It was pretty good considering the only fish and chips I’ve ever had was at this really disgusting shack of a place in Brooklyn. Came with mushy peas which I was not a fan of. If I were to go back to Dublin, I probably wouldn’t go to this restaurant again. It didn’t stand out to me or anything but the only reason why I’m writing a review is because I want to remember this place as the place that gave me my first Guinness. I guess it’s back to shitty wet bar rag Guinness now that I’m back home. And the search for the perfect pint in NYC continues. Stay tuned!

This pub is pretty good, I can’t say that I enjoyed the food that much. The beer and service was fantastic, no complaints there. It was always a happening place in the evenings, a fair crowd. One thing I did notice was a lot of foreigners. As this pub is on one of the main streets adjacent to many hotels, hostels, etc, there tends to always be a high concentration of foreigners and regulars. I wouldn’t say it was my favorite pub, but I did enjoy a breakfast that I had here one more. A good Irish breakfast is always enjoyable. One things you must try at any Irish breakfast place is black & white pudding!

Great little pub! Friends and I spent quite sometime there watching the Darts World Championship and felt very much at home. The food was decent and the staff was kind. It was also a nice mix between tourists and locals which made for fun conversation and people watching.

This was our first stop in Dublin. It was lunch time and we were starving. Madigans was fairly close to our hotel on O’Connell Street and had a decent pub menu. We had a couple of pints of Guinness, fish and chips, and a toasted ham and cheese sandwich. Everything was good. The staff were nice and fairly attentive. And, I liked the environment — we found a cozy table in a corner. It’s a good spot for a pint, and to get a quick bite to eat.

This place was the first stop at many restaurants I ate at in Dublin. The first day I would have rated it super high… but I have concluded that I was just super hungry after sitting in 4 different airports in 3 different countries for 24+ hours(thank you United and Continental Airlines). The waiter was probably the most friendly server I have ever had in ANY country I have been in. He was much older, but seemed to love his job and the people around him. He totally gets 5 stars. The Traditional Irish Stew was pretty good… but nothing spectacular. The portion was out of this world and I wasted like 12USD on the freaking largest bowl of stew a person could imagine. It paired well with a Guinness, however. It is located in a very convenient location, but it is definitely not the place to go to get a true«Irish» feel. The whole time I was in there I was surrounded by tourists from Scandinavian countries. Overall, pretty good and reasonably priced.

The one thing Madigan’s has going for it is the fact that it is close to the Savoy, so it is perfect for pre– or post-cinema pints. Apart from that Madigan’s is a pub like so many others in Dublin city, with comfy chairs, a welcoming interior and friendly staff. The pints are good, the prices are reasonable for the pub being on O’Connell Street and there are worse pubs to spend time in. But having said that, there is nothing truly remarkable about it either… it is just your standard pub like so many others. Which is a good thing, if that’s what you’re looking for.

This is a small, typically Irish public house located in one of the main streets in Dublin. From the outside you could walk straight past & not even realise it is a pub. Once you are inside it is quite dark & there are a usual crowd of regulars sitting at the bar. This pub is very popular with the local irish people, most of them stopping by after a long day at work. If you go downstairs into the lounge area, you can order food. It is not a restaurant per se, it still resembles a bar, but you can get food downstairs. The menu offers some delicious Irish fayre including my fav bacon & cabbage :0) Down to earth place that does not cost the earth & a genuine insight into the real irish culture
