Wonderful cappuccino — very creamy form! Declared outstanding by picky picky coffee consumer. Latte went perfectly with a toasted apple cinnamon scone. Because we lucked out and sun was shining, we were able to enjoy the street side tables. A bit noisy thanks to nearby bus stop, but pleasant enough. The staff was very welcoming & accommodating Oh yes, they have WIFI!

My favourite place to grab a tea and quick sambo in Dublin. Great value and hasn’t changed inside since I used to stop in as a teen 20 years ago. It’s authentic, crusty and the one constant in a city packed with ‘gourmet’ cafes. It brings to mind a quote from Damien Duff(Former Irish soccer player for you out of country visitors) when the old and creaky Lansdowne road stadium was being demolished for a sparkly replacement: «It was a sh*thole, but it was our sh*thole» I hope this place NEVER gets renovated, it’s my last link with my Dublin youth. Here’s an interview I did with the then owner, Bernard:

This place gets for stars simply because it’s great value, the sandwiches are deliciously fresh, the staff are friendly and you can sit outside in the sun when there is some to people watch. Right across from the Abbey & Peacock Theatres –sure you could be sharing a bench with a star of the stage!

Le Phare is a nice, tranquil café located on Dublin’s Abbey Street. Once you enter, you are warmly greeted by all the staff. There is so much choice on the menu in Le Phare from Wraps to delicious home-made soups. If you wish you can sit in or you can take it out and enjoy at your own leisure. A word of warning however. If you intend to sit in or outside, as the café has outdoor seating, it is advised to get there early as it is usually very busy at lunchtime. I have to say, my favourite meal has to be the Le Phare Vegetarian Wrap. Anyone who enters this fine establishment should try this Wrap. It is divine! So, if you are in town with a bit of time to spare, why not get down to Le Phare and see what all the fuss is about!

Le Phare is a decent enough café on Dublin’s northside. They serve a range of sandwiches, snacks and some lovely soups. The thing I don’t like about Le Phare is there are so many directives. ‘Do not sit here,’ ‘Toilets for customers only’ — that kind of thing. I guess it’s important for them to have these signs, considering the area this café is in(not the nicest) but it actually turns me off going inside. In my opinion, Le Phare is the Soup Nazi of Dublin’s café scene.
