Went here recently for a family and I have to say it was VERYVERY ordinary indeed. They have a huge menu, none of which was done very well. My niece got the child’s pizza which was absolutely tiny with the topping scraped on. I had a taste and it was rotten! She couldn’t eat it so had to make do with the miserable portion of chips that came with it. I had a T-bone steak which was pretty flavourless and was cooked medium/well done when I specifically asked for it to be extremely rare! My mother ordered chicken Kiev. As she started eating it she realised there was no sauce inside whatsoever. There were two of them so she went for the second one only to find it had no sauce in it either. We had small kids with us so she didn’t want to upset them by causing a fuss, so she brought them home and complained to the manager by phone next day. He was supposed to send out a voucher as an apology, but that has failed to materialise. On a positive side the staff were courteous, fast and friendly and attentive also, but if I can help it, I will never go back there again.

I love the idea of Joel’s. It’s fast, comfortable, reasonable and has a great choice of food for every palate. The main thing that really puts me off going there is the congregation of smokers that gather around the main entrance. How the restaurant can tolerate this is beyond me! It’s cheap and cheerful really.

I ate at Joel’s Restaurant last night because of its close proximity to my hotel, The Louis Fitzgerald. The service was underwhelming — my waitress was inattentive and took an abnormally long time to respond to requests(the restaurant was not particularly busy). Started with the chicken wings which were among the smallest I’ve ever had. Entrée was the«create your own» burger which was also underwhelming. The patty was bland on a dry bun. Overall, a pretty disappointing meal. Not necessarily a lot of options in the area but it’s worth leaving Newland Cross to find a better dinner.

I used to go to Joel’s with all family every Sunday and for any special occasion, then all of a sudden Joel’s wasn’t our spot anymore as my mum got so sick after our last meal there from the nachos, it had been about 5 years since that so I decides to brave it in around Christmas time and I can see why we don’t go the turkey and ham was like rubber it tasted as if it was frozen and reheated several times the service was terrible waiting well over an hour I between meals. I will never brave this place again.

When we walked into Joels one Sunday afternoon our expectations went down a bit. The dated carpet and décor, the canteen-esque amount of tables in the central area. Um… Seated quickly in a comfortable booth, I found the menu extensive. We both opted for a burger. They are very customisable here. I had the grilled chicken with the basic toppings of lettuce and tomato. It was delicious. Perfectly cooked and the sauce that comes on it was excellent. My partner enjoyed his beef burger a lot. He put more toppings on his too, which is included in the price. The place was quite busy, especially with families. But after watching the floor staff, I realised the place is really well run. Like clockwork and as a result the service was great. We will come back again in the future for sure. Recommended.

This is a family favorite. I brought the family here a few years ago as Its close to where I work. They fecking loved it. Its really spacious, has an excellent no fuss menu. The food is very appetizing and the service is attentive and efficient. We make it a monthly or bi-monthly event as a treat because of my shift work. The kids wont eat from the kiddies menu as they feel they are too grown up at 11 and 13 for crayons with their menu so I have to fork out for the adult menu for 4. But the prices are reasonable anyway so its not going to bankrupt me. In saying that kids eat free on Thursdays but only from the kiddie menu. There are always special offer nights on I believe they have a girls night out menu. They also have entertainment nights with good menus and cater for party bookings. Its a great place for an american diner experience. I brought my elderly neighbour recently for her 85th birthday and she loved it. It will always be a a family favorite.

This is a great restaurant for a Sunday dinner or a catch up with friends. Not the classiest place so not great for a first date as its not really super impressive but the food is great, very reasonably prices, staff are friendly and will try their best to accomadate everyone. I have been eating here quite regular for a few years and would reccomend it anyone.

Joels is a smashing place to bring a group for a bite to eat. It has an extensive menu with very good specials for those on a budget. For once the vegetarian selection is quite varied and the service is fast and efficient if a tad business like. There’s a system here that works and a formula that hasn’t changed in all the years I’ve been going here. Very popular with families on those special ocassions. Parking is ample and fairly secure. Very handy on your way into Dublin off the N7 with a garage right beside it to top up on petrol before hitting the city centre.

The great thing about Joels on the Naas Road is that despite a flashy Celtic Tiger era make over, this family steakhouse hasn’t lost the magic that keeps crowds filling the huge dining room regularly throughout the week. Reservations and dinner jackets aren’t necessary, if anything it confounds the front desk. Mixed drinks and novelty cocktails are pricey here, so keep it simple and save room for dinner. The menu at Joels is a long list of simple crowd pleasers –steak, roast chickens, savoury pies and sandwiches with plenty of traditional sides. With easy dinners that offer such little challenge, it’s easy to focus on the company at your table –this is a family restaurant after all. On our most recent visit two 8oz fillet steaks with three vege sides followed by coffees came to about € 50, not astoundingly cheaper than the City Centre, but well worth it for the atmosphere!

This place really sticks out once you pass Newlands Cross. I always felt sorry for the building due to it being pretty and different and sadly located in an industrial type wasteland. Try to see beyond that and focus on the contemporary building instead. Food in there is top notch. Nothing pretentious, very basic but tasty stuff. They have this promotion after three where everything is 10 euros, I got the steak sandwich. It hit the spot that’s for sure. If you just want a no frills night in a posh looking building then come here.

I love this place, it is always busy in the evenings and has a great vibe, lots of people, noise and movement! Every time I have been I have had to wait for a table, not too long, just long enough to order and enjoy one of the lovely cocktails at the bar! The place is big as is the menu, lots of choice, so great for fussy eaters and a good kids menu too. But even though it is billed as a family restaurant, don’t let that put you off, I have gone here with groups of mates as well as intimate dinners and have had a great time! The food from the grill is great and cooked to perfection, the warm Cajun chicken salad is also good, but the best thing on the menu is the warm chocolate brownie served with ice cream! Best brownie I have ever tried! Prices are great too and they offer some great lunch deals!
