Set within a charming glass conservatory, the roof of which connects two original stone buildings that make up the gallery, this café acts as an emblematic reflection of the establishment it is set within — the coming together of mature and contemporary art displayed side by side within the same milieu. After picking up a mains(approx € 11) from the brave(largely vegetarian and made up of many Asian flavours) menu, you simply cannot pass by the colourful desserts counter without picking up a delectable looking slice of lemon meringue pie or triple-layered carrot cake and placing it on your tray. The café offers an extensive hot drinks menu, all of which arouse the senses. I opted for a green tea to assist in the absorption of the extensive meal I was on the cusp on devouring. One of the best things about this place is the potential for conversation with people from all over the world about the enthralling world-renowned art on show. However it takes a very engrossing conversation even about the most alluring of painting to deduct emphasis from the multitude of flavours you shall be savouring in your delicious meal. A fun meal under the same roof as some of the world’s greatest pieces of art.
