Dun Laoghaire DART Station

The Dun Laoghaire DART station is perfectly located right between the east and west piers. They have both stairs and lifts on both sides (which makes for buggy friendly trips) and there are a few small shelters from wind and rain. The trip out to Dun Laoghaire runs along the coast and is beautiful from Dublin to here as well as Dublin out to Bray with great sea views. The station itself also has an over the track glass window observation area where you can wait for your trains in a semi-​indoors area. Overall, I think this is one of my more favorite stations.

After a 15 km walk down the coast, and a bit inland, from Dublin 3 this particular DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit)) station was the first one I had been in and actually used to get a train (back up to Dublin 3).
The station is just down the road from the center shopping district, has good direction signage, both automated ticket machines as well as a person in a booth and even has a display telling you how long you will have to wait for your next train.
About 2 ½ Euro, and 25 minutes later, the station in Dublin 3 that I needed, Clontarf Road, was in sight.

Dublin’s Dart stations can be a bit shabby at times and this one is no different. I was in here the other day and the floor was really dirty and there was a smell of something like horse manure! That said, they’ve built a few shelters on the platform now so if it’s raining (and it usually is in Ireland!) at least you’re not getting drenched. On the plus side also, there is a nice juice bar here, which serves good coffee as well. I worked nearby a while back and would get the Dart out every morning and get my morning fix here — and it was spot on. It saved me having to make a stop elsewhere on the way to the office.
