Service is really slow today. Went to order at counter after waiting a long time and picked up our own cutlery. Table wasn’t wiped down. Food still good though. May just head off next time, save on the frustration of waiting for service.

i really love Douglas and Kaldi. You can’t beat it for weekend brunch or lunch with friends. Food is always delicious. Eggs benedict is really good here and they do a good irish breakfast. Sandwiches and bagels are delicious too. Recently tried the Porkys Delight bbq pulled pork bap, it was delicious. They do really nice fresh Juice’s and smoothies as well. Deserts are pretty awesome too, tried their caramel profiterole cake at the weekend and it was unbelievable. Worth every calorie! Only criticism i would have about it is that you don’t get anything on the side with sandwiches and bagels, a few crisps or a bit of side salad would make it look better. but all in all its a great spot for lunch/brunch and the prices aren’t extortionate.

Love this place. Had a gorgeous full Irish breakfast in a very chilled out and relaxed atmosphere. The service is very fast and efficient. The food is yummy. You can look out on the canal, just sit back and relax. Prices aren’t too bad either

Definitely a great Irish breakfast in a very cosy environment — living just around the corner is nice to go there sometimes and treat myself. Their desserts are delicious too — try their berries or Oreo cheesecakes, to die for. Only reason why I’m not putting 5 whole stars? One of their waiters took the menu off my hand(while I was looking for a dessert list) saying that he had to take it back unless I wanted to order something. I found it totally unnecessary and a bit rude. Other than this, always a very good dining experience.

Not a fan. The food wasn’t very good and the dessert was worse. I’m sorry but I don’t even know what to say. When I look at all the great reviews I just don’t get it. The food didn’t taste of anything, and the only thing that did was the hot wings, and they were just plastered in Tabasco. Well, anyway, a lot has to change for me to come back again.

My Girlfriend and I, «enjoyed a meal at Douglas And Kaldi yesterday. We had an «Sticky Finger Platter for 2 «as a starter, and this was quiet good, and totally acceptable. The problems started at the Main Course, where i had a Steak Sandwich, and she had a Pasta Cabonara, First problem, the steak was Ordered as «RED» but came out dry cooked, and the salad on the side was not proberly washed, so it was full of sand/dirt. My Girlfriends Pasta, was overcooked and extremly booring, Wouldnt come back, or recomend. !

This coffee shop ouzes luxury and style without the expensive price tag. I love their mini breakfast especially as they are happy to give me mushrooms instead of sausages. The coffee is just perfect and served with hot frothy milk. They have a bring a book, take a book swop here. So if you come alone as i often do then i don’t have to be bored as i can borrow a book and put it back. Alternatively i can gaze out at the canal on which the café faces and simply watch the world go by.

A surefire way to get young kids to walk away from the screen and trade it for a bike ride is the promise of a treat at Douglas and Kaldi at the end of it. And with a menu that clearly sets out to satisfy a range of palates, from snackers to those in search of a good feed, or extended brunch, you should find something to please everyone. The staff are very attentive and friendly and there’s none of that low-murmur of disapproval that sometimes meets young kids in eating places, the one that says, we’ll tolerate you, but only because it’s illegal not to(I had a recent experience in a city centre place where two members of staff actually carried out a conversation a few paces from me where they openly derided children, and I was in the company of two. Who were actually behaving themselves). The policy at D&K’s is clearly, welcome all, make them feel looked after, and they’ll come back. And we do. I’ve never eaten there at night and possibly because of its daytime associations wouldn’t be drawn to, but the setting is lovely and I could certainly imagine it transforming nicely into an intimate nighttime restaurant.

I visit here often for lunch or coffee. It works for me as its close & has free broadband. The bagels & home cut chips are consistently good. The menu hasn’t changed since it opened however. One warning, don’t be on the clock when you visit as the service could be quicker.

Although the service is pretty slow here, as they usually only have 1 server on, it’s a cozy place to get a coffee or snack any night after work. If you’re looking to relax and catch up with a friend, it’s perfect. The pace, the atmosphere, the Chai lattes :)

Great little café but the service can be terrible at times. I have also found the food to be average at best depending on the day I visit the restaurant.

I was really excited about grabbing one of their smoothies and lovely looking salads. It had been a long day and I was starving for lunch. The place was full of young Mammy’s and their babies, I can deal with that. What I can’t deal with is their horrendous customer service. The welcome was not the friendliest. Waiting for 20 mins to be served and still no joy was beyond frustrating especially when they where not run off their feet. I just got up and left. The manager came after me because I had left my car keys behind, that was simply due to the onset of starvation and poor concentration skills. She did not bother to ask why we left, and yes she was in full view of us the whole time, that really irritated me. Even the promise of a free tea to make up for it all would have redeemed them. Yes people have bad days, but as an ex waitress and bartender there was no excuse for us not getting served, they had plenty of staff. Also a few other friends reported similar. Efficiency can be learned!

Douglas and Kaldi in Ashtown has easily become my favourite spot for breakfast. Located by the canal at Ashtown village it has the perfect patio area to dine especially warm Sunday morning. Breakfast is also served late in to the day for those us who are having a lazy lie in. It also has a mouth watering menu at great value. The fajitas are my personal favourite and their portion of fish and chips is very generous. The restaurant lay out is cosy however it is surrounded by glass windows which makes the space look a lot bigger then it actually is. If just nipping in for a coffee they offer newspapers and also have a take a book leave a book library. They have a chain of restaurants through out Dublin which I have not yet experienced however I do imagine they would contain the same high standard as this restaurant.

I often go here for breakfast or lunch. The sandwiches are great(steak sandwich with red onion marmalade is my favourite), as are the juices and smoothies. They also serve wine and some bottled beers, and are open for dinner in the evenings. The staff are very friendly, and it’s a relaxing environment with books and newspapers available.
