Of all the great little curio and antique jewellery shops I’ve come across, this is my favourite. Oh, those velvet-lined cases bring me back to long gone Dublin eras when silver christening cups and candlesticks were perfectly natural gifts. Every piece is labelled carefully with its origin and era(but not cost, oh dear), and I can almost see that silver on an ornate 1902 sideboard. but certainly not mine. For all its formality though, there’s an air of fun in sifting through H Danker’s stock –I’d love a pocket watch and hat pin, oh and those heavy pearl earrings(they’re so in style). The Danker family still own this little antiques den –a favourite detail of mine when finding places to shop.
