Not a fabulous card shop however if you are looking for a card for most occasions you will probably find it here. The variety is not great but if I happen to be around Grafton street and in need of a card will probably drop in to this place.

I have been using the Card Gallery for years and it never lets me down when I need to find that special card. It can be a bit hard to navigate on occasions when it gets very busy with people. It also can be very expensive. A-OK

The Card Gallery is, unsurprisingly, a shop full of greeting cards. As the neon sign in the front window proclaims, Hallmark cards are the order of the day. It never ceases to surprise me that the selection of cards on offer in specialist card shops such as this one can be so damn dull. There are literally hundreds of cards to choose from, for every occasion imaginable, but I’ll be honest and say I would hesitate to give any of these to a loved one. They have a decent selection of gift wrap and those little sparkly gift bags with the string handles that come in really handy, and they’re not too expensive for a change. As the shop is located in the centre of Grafton Street, one of the most touristy areas of Dublin, I suppose they just couldn’t resist dedicating the basement to touristy souvenirs, from Guinness merchandise, to sheep t-shirts and mugs, jumpers, pens and hats covered in hideous green shamrocks.

Despite being on one of the most prominent streets in the country, I have walked past card gallery most days for three years and have been completely ignorant of its existence before today. As one would assume, card gallery is choc-full of cards. Birthday cards, get well soon cards and they even have a card section simply labeled ‘cute’. They didn’t have a bon voyage card, which was exactly what I needed. You think a card shop with a ‘cute’ section would have one. Minus points. They also have one of those hideous touristy shops that sells leprachauns and shamrock mouse mats that make your stomach turn in disgust at the blatant exploitation of tourists. Nigs.
