Their coffee was one of my favorites I’ve tasted on this trip. It was really smooth and clean after taste! Cookie was whatever, but coffee was something to come back for def!

One word: Yum! This is every chocolate lovers dream — sometimes I go in just to smell the place. Their hot chocolate is to die for, the selection of chocolates is unreal and they even gift wrap the boxes. Seriously? I can’t. I love it. *Hint Hint* Xmas is coming!

What can you say about Butler’s chocolate that already has not been said? Their coffee is actually very very good and they’re dark hot chocolate is extremely rich and delicious. Of course they also sell chocolate. They are not as pricey as some of the Belgian chocolate places. But their chocolate is quite good. It makes nice gifts.

So, why review Butlers, nice coffee. Great chocolates, a typical butlers really — except for one thing… When I order a drink, I’d like to think the barista has enough respect for me as a customer to make what I order. I’d also expect that if the barista is caught out not doing so that they would apologise and correct their error/shortcut. Sadly not here. Here they will bluff that the milk you just watched them use is not in fact what you just saw… Hey I know first world problem right? But then so is € 3 for a coffee… This is one branch I will be avoiding in future.

Who doesnot like Butlers?. The perfect place for coffee addicts. The smell of coffee outside the shop is enough to blow your mind. Their selection of chocolate is great too, and the good thing is that they offer different selections(alcohol free) too. My favorite is the dark truffle 70%.

We visited on our last day in Ireland, a great end to our trip. The chai tea latte was perfect and the chocolates were amazing. Some say it’s overpriced, but you pay for quality.

To be honest — before my trip to Ireland, I have never heard of Butler’s. It wasn’t until I arrived did I find out what a big deal it was(went on the Butler’s factory tour and errthang) My friends and I came here on our last day because we wanted to buy some chocolate to bring home. Decided to buy a cup of coffee(Americano) and it was delicious! Strong(I like my coffee dark) but not jittery strong. The best part? If you order a drink, they give you a complimentary piece of chocolate, which you get to pick. The place is pretty small so I think the best thing to do would be to get your drink to go! Wish they had a Butler’s at home :( I guess I’ll have to ration and savor the hot chocolate I bought from them!

This place is a little haven! best hot chocolate in town and a must-try for tourists or silly locals who have not yet ventured out. The quality is impeccable and the service is friendly. Perfect pick-me-up for battling through Irish weather.

Butlers is the closest thing to heaven on earth. The hot chocolate is a MUST. It is rich and thick and foamy and delicious and basically, unforgettable. Their expresso drinks are ten times better than Starbucks or anything that i have found in the US, AND they give you a free piece of chocolate with your drink. How ridiculously sweet.

Felt as if i were melting. like the sweet hot chocolate! Before I visited here, I had tried Café Mocha at another Butlers. At that time I didn’t feel it was something(not bad, though). Seeing many favorable write-ups for its Hot Chocolate, this time I tried it. As soon as the hot choc came into my body, all the headache, irritation and any other bad feelings had gone! That was the happiest moment, and regardless of my will my face got a satisfaction smile. It obviously had a real flavour of chocolate, which makes everybody happy. I would happier if we could have one more option: hot choc with their DARK chocolate, not only with the milk one. (according to the preferences of chocolate itself.) Anyway, a man to whom I ordered my hot choc was also really nice. I felt I got energy from his friendly attitude.

I really enjoy GOOD coffee… € 2.90 for a takeaway cappuccino– you’d expect it to be nice right? Sadly I had to return it — pure water! Staff were polite and helpful and made me a new one :) again the quality of coffee was absent — so my € 2.90 coffee experience ended up in the bin! There are better places to grab a coffee in this city! Go explore!

Butler’s looks delightful, and is a warm haven from the cold on a chill January afternoon. However, the pastries are American sized and sugared, by which I mean that they are inedibly sweet and huge, and lack subtlety or art. The hot chocolates are likewise overpowering and cloying, as opposed to delicate. The best hot chocolate of my life was in the Distillery District in Toronto, a mayan blend with chili that titillated me, so stand guard that I don’t like conventional chocolate and also, am spoiled, but I don’t recommend Butler’s.

Its sometimes quite difficult to find good coffee in Dublin, Starbucks is never great and Insomnia pretty much mediocre, but I can rarely pass a Butler’s Chocolate Café without stopping in for a latte. Really good coffee and a free chocolate! You cant go wrong with Butler’s!

I’m happy to report that I study chocolate. Seriously. I’ve been sampling chocolates from around the world for several years. I love finding local chocolatiers when traveling. Discovering Butlers was a treat. The hot chocolate is average, but the bars of dark chocolate are about a 7⁄10. The 70% cacao is solid, but the 70% cacao bar with crispy mint pieces is outstanding. Put down that candy bar and soothe your sweet tooth at Butlers.

Butlers Chocolate Café is what you might call the chocolate lovers dream haunt. No, the furniture isn’t made of chocolate and it may not be fat-free, but everything that I’ve tasted there(more than a nutritionist might like to know about) has been rather spectacular on the chocolate scale. The drinks are really something different, made from real melted chocolate(white chocolate recommended, though wouldn’t say no to any of the liquid sugar pots they produce). There are usually free pieces of chocolate to try at the counter and they do have a loyalty card system so get it stamped every time. The chocolates are good as gifts with varying box sizes to choose from, depending on how deep your love goes. Don’t nip in on a full stomach though, I’m yet to finish one of my hot-chocolate dream drinks in full, but I’m a fighter, so I go on back every time.

As somone who both loves and is allergic to chocolate, I know life is cruel, my trip here was a bit like taking Dracula to a day out at the bloodbank. However, the cravings got the better of me and off I went like a zombie hunting for brains to Butlers. The café on Wicklow street always seems to be busy and if you can beat your way through the crowds its well worth the wait, even if your just getting a coffee you still get to taste the goods. Its quality stuff, so Irish chocolate thats good, not like manky macaroon bars years ago or those dodgy fry’s chocolate creams your relatives used to bring. Theres a couple of the café’s around town, well worth a look when you need a sugar rush and a coffee.

Oh how I love good chocolate and Butler’s is GREAT chocolate and this café is a great café. Fab hip location with great people watching outdoor seating area. But forget all that, it is the chocolates that people come here for and they are divine! So rich and creamy and melt in the mouth! All their chocolate is great, white, milk and dark but my favourites are the creamy dreamy truffles. They make really good coffees too with ethical fair trade beans and all come with a free chocolate of your choice! Bonus.

There are many Butlers Chocolate Cafes around Dublin and Ireland. I have been to many of them and really like visiting them whenever I can. They have a lovely variety of chocolates which you can pick and bring home with you or have a few with your beverage as a nice treat. Also they have many gift boxes of butler’s sweets, fudges and toffees for sale in the café.
