Bar Code is one of the few nightclubs in the suburbs of Dublin’s northside, and along with Tripod, it can lay claim to being one of Dublin’s few superclubs. Dimensions aside, Bar Code has plenty of other amenities not seen in most other clubs: pool tables, arcade games, Chinese restaurant, barbecue. Prospective patrons should be advised, however, that going to Bar Code is regarded as a rite of passage for Dublin youths in their final year of school, and as such the club is very much the preserve of the 18 – 19 age group(if you’re the type of freewheeling urbanite that consults Unilocal, you probably don’t want to party with a load of kids on their Easter holidays). Having said that, tourists do seem to enjoy the club, it is free in and it has got a big dance floor and a nice smoking area. The pints are universally atrocious; having said that, they are quite cheap, and the music is brutal(the DJ seems to use Spin 103.8 as his template). If you’ve never been before, it is worth a go, but you wouldn’t want to make a habit of going there.
