Conor Pass

This is along Slea Head Drive.
Ireland is beautiful and I couldn’t give it less than 5 stars. Pack your food/​lunch and comfortable shoes. Bring camera.
I suggest renting a vehicle so that you can travel at your own pace. Stop when you want, take photos, lunch, etc. If you have a DSLR you must bring it. The views on this drive are killer. Cows, sheep, mountains, ocean, birds, beaches, etc.
Come with someone who will appreciate the views on this drive otherwise you’ll be rushing yourself through. Lots of places to stop.
Caution, the roads get narrow but I didn’t experience many cars. Just be prepared to slow down or stop to let other vehicles squeeze past

Conor Pass, situated on the Dingle Peninsula, is a twisty and narrow mountain passage that connects Dingle with Brandon Bay and Castlegregory. This 3.5 mile drive is considered as one of Ireland’s prettiest drives. The scenic road leading to the pass weaves around the edges of coastal cliffs and past blue glacial lakes.
Prior to our visit we heard the horror stories of how dangerous this drive was. The drive really isn’t that bad; although this was our third day of driving on the left side of the road! There were a few spots that were too narrow for two cars to pass at once, but we would just pull off the road in a passable spot and there were no issues. We approached several sheep in the middle of the road so be cautious as you make each turn.
There is only one spot to pull off the road and take photos. It was very foggy on the morning that we were on Conor Pass, but I think the fog adds an eerie and romantic touch to the photos we took!

The Conor Pass provides some of the best views in Ireland on a good day. The road is narrow but has been widened a bit in recent years, so it isn’t as hairy as it was before. If you get unlucky you may have to play a bit of a game of chicken with an oncoming driver where one of you will be forced to reverse to a passing spot. I’d say if you’re driving a right hand drive car you should avoid this route, or if you’re a nervous driver or unsure of the width of your car. Avoid completely if it’s foggy or icy.
The drive itself is beautiful, but to get the full experience, I recommend stopping at the little car park halfwaf through. There’s a beautiful lake that isn’t visible from the road that you can climb up to. It’s just a really special place and well worth the five minute climb! If you see someone walking up, follow them!

Das erste, was wir in Irland besuchen, wenn wir ankommen, ist der Connor Pass. Wir haben ihn bei Sonnenschein und auch bei Regen und Sturm erlebt. Jedesmal ein Erlebnis!

Beautiful & a bit scary all at the same time!
Roads here are narrow & this one is no exception! It was early morning & the rain had passed but the fog & mist hung around for a bit but the wind pushed it through… the views were beautiful. Having driven from Dublin, Kinsale, down the Ring of Kerry into Dingle up through Cliffs of Moher, Conomara, to Galway then to Shannon. But this, this was definitely one of our favorite spots to really capture the beauty that is the Emerald Isle.

Connor Pass is the most scenic place I’ve ever been in my life. If I had to advise people to go to just one place it would be Dingle — and this would be the route to travel.

We got lucky with clear skies and were rewarded with majestic views as we traversed the cliff side road to a summit that allowed us to see as far as the eye would allow! Just. Beautiful.
We had a driver. Truthfully, I’d be scared out of my wits if myself or a family member tried driving this. The lanes are super narrow and literally one lane in places.
Plan to take your time and enjoy the views. Unless you’re the driver… then, just plan to take your time, please. You need to keep your eyes on the road! ;)
P. S. The ice cream bordered on custard and was the perfect treat!

James A. is right again! The Dunloe Gap was beautiful but Conor Pass was probably the most scenic area we visited off the coast line. The road is very narrow near the top so do look way ahead and be courteous to cars coming the other way. It seemed that we could see forever! It will take an effort on your part to drive through the pass but it will be well worth it. If you spend over a day on the Dingle peninsula and do not visit Conor Pass — well you missed the boat — in more ways than one.

Wunderschöner Bergpass, den man mit dem Auto befahren kann wenn man von Tralee kommt oder nach Tralee fährt.
Von dort geniesst man einen Traumhaften Ausblick. Einfach dort durchfahren und auch Spass beim fahren haben. Die Straße ist am besten von Dingle in Richtung Tralee zufahren. (guter TIP)

The Conor Pass is a narrow, twisting scenic route that traverses the Dingle Peninsula. If you’re in a hurry to get to or from Dingle there’s faster routes, but none come close to the spectacular scenery of the pass. There are some very narrow places where two cars cannot pass, so you need to keep your eyes peeled when driving. Don’t stop on the pass — there’s a dedicated photo spot at the top (and it’s the best photo anyway, plus sometimes there’s an ice cream van). The light plays off the hills in amazing ways, and the contrast between green hills, gray sky and the blue sea is amazing.

Bei schönem Wetter bietet der Connor Pass eine wunderschöné Aussicht. Auf dem Gipfel haben wir einen Harfespieler (auf dem Foto) getroffen. Sehr schön.

der Connor Pass ist der höchste Pass in Irland; ok 400m, dass ist nicht allzuviel, aber immerhin. Die Aussicht bei schönem Wetter ist durchaus einen Abstecher wert.
