This place is one of my best findings in Clontarf. I loved their pizza, it’s authentic Italian, and the panna cotta with berries sauce was the best that I ever had. The place is small, a typical Italian canteen, perfect spot for a romantic dinner. However, in my second time here they took ages to bring our main couse, nearly 50 minutes and no apologies. They need to improve their customer service cause it’s not that good at all.

Have only been twice — both times for coffee /sandwiches. I noticed on both occasions that the pizza was also very popular :-) I’d recommend it: sandwiches were very good(and I mean very good — like, decent breads, interesting fillings — up to Pig /heifer standard :-), and the coffee was great! What’s not to like! A definite stop if you’re in the neighbourhood or passing by the Clontarf seaside strip…

Not impressed at all by the Sand Bar. I ordered spaghetti bolognaise. It was overcooked, the sauce was watery and tasteless and the meat was vile. My lunchmate had chicken fillet that looked like it had been left out under the blazing sun to dry out. The accompanying sauce was gloopy and lacked flavour and the side of vegetables were soggy, overcooked while the sauté potatoes were in a word NOT sauteed rather doused in grease and slung on a plate. Service was lacklustre, and for two mains and two sparkling waters plus coffees the bill came to 27.90 Way overpriced for very mediocre food. The only reason the Sandbar is getting a single star is it’s location! The acoustics in the place meant that background conversations made talking very difficult. as well. Ho hum

Although a very small venue(capcity 18), the Sand Bar is a lovely little spot located on the northside coast of Dublin. When the sun is out, this is a beautiful little spot to grab a quick(or a little longer) bite to eat after an evening stroll on the coast. Very popular with the locals and will get very busy in the evening, especially when the sun is out so reservations are highly recommended, however, you maybe lucky and one of the lovely mannered staff members may be able to find a space for you. The menu itself it Italian with lots of choices of pasta and pizza dishes, as well as some nice desserts ;). Definitely worth a visit!

I have only been to Sand Bar once, before a show for my dinner. I thought there was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food arrived quickly and I was surprised how delicious my pizza was. It was really lovely and not too expensive. In a lovely place, over looking the sea front, i would think it would be lovely on a nice hot day in the summer looking out and having a nice lunch :)

Sand Bar is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. On the occasion that I went it was for dinner. The menu is mainly Italian and is of good quality and not too expensive. The atmosphere is quite lively and sophisticated. The location also offers a great opportunity for a stroll along the waterfront after dining.
