Blackrock Park is a lovely big public park, designed very much in the ‘make your own fun’ philosophy of public infastructure. There’s isn’t a playground as such, just some swings placed brilliantly, if not terrifyingly, close to the lake. And as there’s so much space in the place, without much that you can actually break, it means you can play football. Result. Then there’s the history of the place. A mortello tower that now doubles as a practice wall for some of the suburbs emerging graf artists. A bandstand where Lizzy once played to thousands. The ruins of an old Castle. This place is great. It’s a popular nightspot for Dutchy swilling kids too, though why that would make anyone want to go there is beyond me.
