I like Asador, a lot. After first trying their fare at The Big Grill BBQ festival, not once but twice, we decided it was time to pay a visit. And when I say a visit, I mean three. First off the décor in side is chic, if not a bit stunning. The round tables look so inviting too. The staff are amazing. So well trained, polite and at times charming. The only thing I would take from them is they were too attentive topping up our wine glasses on our last visit. Next up the drink. We’ve had the same, very drinkable Pinot Grigio on two occasions. I’ve had their Margarita on another. The latter was excellent. Next to the food. Well their chickens wings are a must. They are some of the best, if not the best I’ve had in Dublin. On our first visit we had the platter to share and that was fine. The ribs the highlight, the homemade sausage not so much. On the in between visit we had the steak as a main, which was fine also. It wasn’t the fillet, but the more reasonably priced Picanha cut, which is rump according to the interweb. Overall a great experience. A few things holding me back from giving it five stars, but I will be back and hopefully they can win that last one over.

Generally good atmosfphere. Good food but with a few comments: rare steak should mean rare not medium too much focus on «artistical impression» rather than actual taste Seafood tasting better than meat in a steak-focused restaurant is not a good sign Oh and. Check the pic review :)

Holidaying in Dublin and this place happened to be our closest restaurant. Managed to get a «walk in» table on a Thurs night, but i think we we were quite fortunate, so I’d recommend booking in advance. It is a bit fancy… but definitely not pretentious. I felt a bit underdressed once inside(wearing denims, t-short, a long sleeve jumper and a pair of sneakers), but not once did I feel unwelcome or get any disdainful looks from the staff. I’d say collared shirt would be about right, but dressed to the 9’s and you would not be out of place here. The restaurant was clean and modern inside. The restrooms were spotless. The staff were professional, but very friendly and all about good service. Now to the food… Nothing short of exquisite! The carnivorous being that I am, a steakhouse is always my first pick. This restaurant delivered what has to be one of the best steaks I’ve had. Something about the way they bbq it gave the steak a unique taste. My wife had the bbq baby back ribs as an entrée. These were divine, with the meat falling away from the bone. A hint of spiciness, but perfectly balanced within the smoky flavour. For mains we both had steak, and both were cooked to perfection. Looking around, as I’m sure we all do when eating out, the chicken wings entrées were flying out the door and from the look of satisfaction on most diners’ faces, this will have to be my pick next time round. The burgers also looked fabulous. The dessert menu was good, with quite a varied selection. We shared a dessert that had ice-cream and some sort of chocolate sponge cake with a divine sauce inside. I know I am not doing this dessert any justice with my description, but by this time of night, after a 24hr flight, I was crashing… and crashing hard… I honestly cannot recall the name of the dessert, but remember well chocolate sauce escaping the confines of the sponge cake once the first bite had been taken mmm… Food presentation was excellent. A bit short on the side dishes that come with the meal, but a nice selection of sides to order. I can’t comment too much on the price, as I don’t know what dining out costs in Ireland. If I use cost vs satisfaction as a yardstick, I had no complaints or separation anxiety when parting with my money.

Made a late booking for this restaurant and the host was v accommodating trying to fit us in. Gorgeous food and very friendly/knowledgeable wait staff. I would recommend the meat board for two as a main! Will definitely be back!

Reliably excellent; meat lover’s dream; the fish is nice too. Nice cocktail bar too. Highly recommended if you have the budget. Handy also that there’s generally on-street parking available of an evening.

Among the many options around Baggot street area, that is one of the best. Get prepared for some refinement and superb steak =) The place is super cool an modern inside. The staff are very nice and jokey. The tables are too close together and well. At some point we were perfectly listen to other people conversation. The background music was great — some Latino style — but too loud if you want to have a conversation. Food. Delicious. But I found the menu a little small. I was told by the waitress it is like that because they have season’s menu. All right then. I had the BBQ rack of lamb. It was really good and came in a big portion with lots of potato. My friends had the steak and said it was tasty and juicy. The wine list is long but drinks are expensive. Not a place for beer by the way. I would go again next time I feel like having a fancy dinner.

I am such a ginormous fan of Asador, that«ginormous» doesn’t even cover the level of my fondness of the place. 1. The staff are so friendly and competent; no special requirement/alteration to the menu is a problem, plus when I went last I told the manager on the phone that we were celebrating a girls’ 30th(hoping for a cheeky free dessert) they ended up giving her a voucher for dinner and a cocktail for 2! –HOW sound. 2. The food is spot on too. I always seem to go there in big groups and there’s usually a general consensus of everyone being happy with their choice(oh except the open chicken sandwich tends to be met with people raging over the fact that there just wasn’t enough of it, and complaining of still being hungry!..) 3. The setting is actually kind of fancy for the bargain that you get with the«Express Lunch» menu. Nearly everything is € 10 or less but you can pretend like you’re on a sophisticated luncheon purely from the vibe of the place and elegance of the staff. I’d recommend it for anyone wanting to impress their boss/office team/big gang of friends/granny with a thrifty, delicious and semi-fancy lunch!

This is a very comfortable restaurant which does a damn fine steak. The wine list is excellent also.

The atmosphere, food, and waitstaff were all wonderful at Asador. Four of us went at 7:00pm on a Friday(we made a res about 2 weeks in advance), and we all got starters(I’d recommend the scallop or salmon starter) and then we shared the two 2-person platters they had — one meat, one fish. There was plenty of food, from start to finish — even if it did feel a bit pricey(but I’m starting to realize good food in Dublin is just expensive!) — and most of it was quite tasty! The fish platter included seared tuna, prawns, and two or three types of white fish. The meat platters included steak, sausages, BBQ chicken, ribs, and more. It was a fun way to eat with multiple people!

Terrible slow service and a really bad attitude when we complained having to wait for 1 hour for our main course from the«Express Menu»

Absolutely dreadful service ruins what has the potential to be a reasonable choice. Behaviour of wait staff and management thoroughly unprofessional. Food was reasonable when it eventually arrived but not worth waiting for. Meals were also brought to the table two at a time over about 10 minutes. Manager admitted that there were major issues with the meal but didn’t even offer a free coffee. It wouldn’t have made much of a difference as many of our party had to leave part way through the meal as it was so slow. 90 minutes is not an express lunch. Would never recommend this restaurant to anyone when there are so many better options in Dublin.

Came here for a weekday lunch — they have some ‘express’ lunch deals which are nice salads and sandwiches. I opted for the bacon chicken open faced sandwich. It was very nice! Everything tasted very fresh — it came with a small side salad as well. Definitely a nice place for lunch with your work colleagues and there’s lots of outdoor seating. Reasonable prices(less than ten euro) for a salad or sandwich. They also have some appetizer options and a soup of the day.

This restaurant has landed in my personal favourite top 10 restaurants in Dublin! I’ve been for brunch and dinner and both meals were just so good! The omelette, which was a daily special, was, to this day, the nicest omelette I’ve ever had! I went for the steak for dinner as that’s what you’ve got to do at a place like this! It was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection but I’m glad I ordered a side salad instead of the chips, otherwise I would have been rolling home! Also, have to mention the cocktails! You can’t go here and not indulge, they not only taste so good good but also look so good!

I went here with a friend last week. The restaurants is really nice inside, the staff were very polite, always checking in to see if everything was ok etc. However the food was very disappointing. I had a steak which was tiny and very bland, onions were cold, the fries looked like they came from a happy meal. Dessert was also a major disappointment. I did enjoy my visit however I don’t think I’d return. Very expensive for what we received

Splendid lunch here a couple of weeks ago. The service was fantastic and the food and wine were delicious. I had the sausage to start, followed by chicken with potato gratin and green beans, with a cheese board and double espresso to finish off. All this was washed down by a very tasty rioja. Looking forward to going back.

I need to preface this review by saying I had 2 lovely meals here when it first opened. The prawns and lobster they served both times were fantastic, and i loved the atmosphere in the place. However, we went last night for a christmas night out and all 6 of us were underwhelmed with the food, service and cost. 1– It took 40 mins for our cocktails(which were delicious to be fair) to arrive. Just not good enough 2– We were told that all 6 of us had to choose the same menu– so all 6 either go for xmas menu(too dear at 50 a head and none of us wanted dessert) or all 6 go for Ala Carte??? I dont see the sense in that when the menus were virtually identical. 3– It was borderline impossible to get any of the staffs attention all night long. 4– They were sold out of 6 oz fillets. This is the 2nd time they’ve been sold out of fillets when i’ve been– can they not accurately forecast stock levels of the most popular cut of meat? I had the rib eye instead but it was bland to say the least. They are served with onion rings and chips– surely one of them should be replaced with a side salad? The pepper sauce was watery and tasteless also. To be honest they are not the only restaurant in dublin to lower their standards for christmas service– but any restaurant that does this loses me as a customer forevermore. The really good restaurants treat december like any other month. The mediocre ones try to milk the christmas market, force 3 course menus on people and serve sub par food. I might perhaps give Asador another chance in the new yr, then again I might not. The chophouse down the road is just too good in comparison.

I had the opportunity to try this restaurant for a work dinner with my team and was pleasantly surprised. We had to take the group menu as there were quite a few of us. The grilled halloumi cheese as a starter was just perfect. The main course was good too, even if very filling but the dessert was a bit disappointing. The mango cheesecake just tasted more like a flan than like a cheesecake. The service was really efficient and friendly. It definitely contributes to a livelier atmosphere in this quiet area, which is a bit off the centre.

Isn’t it time for Baggot St to have a foodie revival/cluster? This place will help. They’ve not changed much décor from when this venue was Mangetu, but have installed a monster grill down the back. The lunch and pre-theatre menus are slim but excellent value. The drinks menu is extensive and they have a cocktail bar. I ordered a la carte, but saw the pre-theatre steak and chips at the next table and was jealous. There’s no skimping there. The a la carte is not priced so keenly. Their eponymous salad read better than it ate; the chorizo delivers a keen punch, but where were the promised pumpkin seeds? Mind you, I left none behind. The burger is a generous treat, but I was left wanting more turf smoke with my venison. The staff really were excellent: tap water refilled without asking, refresh of bread without charge, ever so polite when the neighbouring table asked for their steak to be flashed from rare to medium rare and even more polite when the same table suggested the chef’s sauce béarnaise was too thick for their(it seems quite fussy) liking. I’ll be back.
