New shop from the same team that brought you The Woods. (By the way, I like how Unilocalers always rush to the new places and I’m already down the third review. :D) First of all, for those who don’t like raw oysters, listen to me — there are more than just raw oysters in this shop. Do come and try some other hot dishes. We arrived 6:5pm sharp on a Sat night and we were lucky enough to grab the last two seats. Greeted by Victoria and other friendly staff and you would be similar if you are a regular to The Woods, service was the least thing you needed to worry about. We were being pretty adventure about the food, so we just randomly ordered stuff. Other than the po’boy, which we had our eyes on it ever since it’s opened. We ordered the all the three signature oysters. That 70s Shell, Oompa Loompa, and yes, Lady Gaga. And the Miso Hot, which my partner wanted a cooked oyster. We ordered the bottled cocktails mixed by the team in The Woods too. Never had any doubt with their cocktails. In fact, the bottles looked small, but if you account for the fact they had no ice, they certainly served a proper serving here with enough alcohol to give you a good kick. That 70s Shell was very good, mixed with ther roe gave you the taste of sashimi. Lady Gaga was good, and Oompa Loompa was only okay — blood orange sorbet was a fancy touch but it covered up all the taste of the oyster. Miso Hot on the other hand was spot on — keeping the favor of the oyster even cooked and with the miso sauce. The po’boy was as good as we expected — crispy buns and crispy deep fried oysters /fish. Perfecto. In our second round, we ordered crab cake poppers, chicken lollipops, and another round of That 70s Shell and Miso Hot. My partner liked the poppers a lot and I LOVED the lollipops. Ok fair call here, I ate more lollipops and you could have more poppers. Lastly, we ordered the chocolate oyster dessert. Well, that’s the only dessert choice here, but it wouldn’t disappoint you. You could even eat the oyster shell! Oh yes, it’s delish. Out of the 8 dishes and 2 drinks we tried, I only had problem with Oompa Loompa, so it’s pretty solid for a new shop. And they rotate the choices of oysters on the menu too, therefore I’m not too worried at all. One thing though — they only have 25 seats in a relatively small restaurant. Don’t expect you are sitting at a fancy French restaurant with a big table.

So I’ve been walking past this place for the last 2 weeks on my way home so decided to try it out early this week. They are still in soft opening mode… So I wasn’t expecting much. The waitress was nice(I forget her name but she’s the blond one). She was able to explain all the dishes and provide some recommendations… She even had an iPad with pictures if the fishes. So I started my dinner with the half dozen raw oyster served 3 ways. My pick of the three is the blood orange sorbet. just enough tang and sweetness to balance the salty taste of the oyster. I was suggested the walrus«po boy». It’s like a seafood hot dog with fish fillets and oyster. It was good but I was hoping for more flavour. For dessert… I was already full but the waitress talked me into the chocolate oyster. It was delicious. It was hard to eat but it was worth it. Overall great service and food. They also asked me if I had any constructive criticism too.

It is soft opening! This sister branch of The Woods kicked off since late June. Along with freshly arrived oyster this niche bar will hit the town for this summer. Consistent mixology as the Woods, each cocktail is presented with artisan look and inspiring taste. Some oyster shooters is a must. Personally not a dressing person, I was a bit hesitating. You can just separate it as I do. Take your oyster, then the shot as a juice appetiser… haha The raw platter is way too artistic! Three choices: Lady Gaga, Oompa Loompa and FlowerpoWer. Salmon tarte, salmon roe, and girl’s best friend– flowers.
