So much YES!!! Brisket cheese fries were pretty good. The giant beef short rib was delicious especially when accompanied by the creamy Mac and cheese! 4BBQ sauces to choose from(the mustard one was yum and it’s not usually my thing) But the overall winner here at The Roundhouse is the amazing Sheila … Bartender, server, masseuse, friend :) Come for the amazing beer selection and Delish BBQ and enjoy the bonus of a fun and entertaining staff!

This place is up a narrow and steep street, like many streets on Hong Kong island(unless you are coming from Caine Road, then it’s a short trek downhill.) Even if you were not in a mood, you would stumble into the pub craving a glass of cold, refreshing beer. Really love their selection of beer on tap. About 20 taps, with the selection written on chalkboard above, a nice mix from local, US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, all craft beer, nothing mainstream, or even mainstream that pretends to be craft… Needless to say, for me visiting from the U.S., most are new and unfamiliar. Thankfully the staff is very friendly and patient, giving me useful info to help with the selection. I can also tell, from how he was taking care and cleaning the taps, that he’s seriously dedicated to the quality of the beer. I tried the Huell Melon Single Hop from Boxing Cat, a craft brewery from Shanghai. I thought it’s some kind of fruit/juice infused beer but turns out it’s a hop named huell melon. A hop with a hint of melon aroma! Love that. Also tried their own brew, Smoky Baby V2. The bartender told me Version 1.0 was too smokey. Well, I suppose, like Goldilock, v3 should be perfection. Definitely, if you want a good place to try some interesting craft beer on draught, this is worth a visit.

Sunday night, popped in for a quickie and very glad we did. A fine selection of beers in the board and the staff are very keen to help you taste and choose the perfect bevy for you palate. For a snack we shared some ribs; boy they were great. Possibly the best ribs I’ve had in HK. Another quick mention for he staff, very welcoming and this makes it all the more a pleasure to come back — for sure

I actually haven’t been to this location, but I love the Wanchai branch so much and thought people should know about it. I do not drink but anybody who loves beer on tap should come. They have a wide selection. I came for the famous fried chicken. It did not disappointed. Very juicy. The waiters were all very nice and hard-working.

Not very good. The out-of-the-way location takes you away from the action of SoHo, but having moved here from the US, I wanted to see if there was a legit place to get a nice rack of ribs or slab of cornbread. This was not the place. I went for lunch and ordered the ribs and sausage combo. As you can see in the picture, the ribs were an unappetizing dry black color, and the sausage was equally dry and overdone. Though a selection of sauces were brought with the meal, none were particularly good. The topper was the inclusion of two slices of wonder bread on the plate. I find that the best ethnic restaurants in Hong Kong are run by former residents of the country of the restaurant. I can say with confidence that no one associated with this place has ever set foot in the US south.

The amount of craft beer bars in HK is quite astounding, it feels like there is one around just about every corner. I get the impression this was probably one of the first ones and it is really good at what it does. It has the option to have 21 taps on the go. They give out iPads with the drinks menu on it so they can update it constantly with new beers. Inside it has the chalkboard and industrial décor that you would expect for a modern craft beer bar. So far all so good. I went twice while in HK and I should be giving it five stars. I wish they had one in my home city. If they did I would visit it. So why 4 stars? Both times I went there was under ten beers actually on draft, no where near the possible 20 plus. Also a couple of them were ciders! I think a bit of complacency has crept in and this place is perhaps losing its edge. You need to have more than 7 beers on draft on a Saturday night if your claiming to be a speciality craft beer bar. Still very cool and worth a visit if you love beer, but could of been so much better.

Great beer place. Further down you have Glxxx serve all the bottled beer. Here is about brewery. I get to know this spot as it helps local and recognized brewery to be tasted. The menu is a thumbs-up. General rating, sweetness, bitterness are all clearly listed with 5 start scale rating. Making choice based on your paleo way easier. I got the Dead Frog which is surprising. Fresh tap. Amazing. My friend also ordered his second a Dead Frog. The food. The BBQ platter was delivered in a tray. Sausage, spare ribs, beef briest, pulled pork. The pulled pork is fairly looking but awesome. More juicy, tender and layers than the rest.

This place has got a great selection of craft brews from the best place on earth for beer; The Westcoast! Haha, okay okay. I might be a little bias as I am from San Diego(highest number of microbreweries in the US) but when I find a place that carries some damn good brews from my home state, then this place means serious business. My buddy and I walked in by accident as we were just cruising around after knocking back a beer around the corner at The Globe. We noticed a ton of people and realized it was a grand opening(this was back around the end of ’13). Say what?! A new taproom opening up in Central? They were offering free pours for everyone that night. Shoot, we took advantage of it and ended up knocking back a few brews(they were full pours) as they were super generous. Great first impression right off the bat! They do have some great Texas style BBQ such as brisket so if you’re feeling homesick and in need of some good eats after living in the 852 for a while, you can get your fix here while you knock back a cold one!

You’d be wise to avoid buying the beer flight; it isn’t clear, but you do not pick which beers you want. They apparently just give you the worst-selling ones on the menu. Also, on some nights, you might see the staff blasting Bön Jovi and standing on the bar. For some people that is probably not a bad thing, but I am from New Jersey myself and have frankly heard enough Bön Jovi in my life already. That being said, their tap list is objectively the best in Hong Kong and the staff is kind and patient.

This place rocks!!! I’m from So Cal where we love our IPAs so I was soooooo stoked to discover this place. It’s up a giant ass hill in Soho and worth the climb. They have a great rotating list of beers on tap and you choose from a menu on an iPad, fancy! The staff is SO nice. If you’re not sure what you want, tell them what kind of beer you like and they’ll bring you out a couple to test before committing to a full pint. I’ve also had the food here and it’s bomb, real BBQ! In fucking Hong Kong!

Holy hops! Seriously sweet suds! Big buckets of brown brewed beer! Awesomely aromatic awakening ales! This place makes me want to alliterate its deliciousness. Yes, nice craft beer selection, you got it! Continental Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, and USA are all represented with some notables being Mikkeller, Coedo, Baird, and Andersen Valley. I tend to go for the weirdest fruit/vegetable beer I can find, so seeing brews featuring sweet potato and miso made me smile. Wah! I was also so lucky to find an intense and amazing chocolate stout the first time I visited. Rich with dark malts and a smooth head, it was fantastic to sip out of its tulip. I don’t even like chocolate, but in a beer done right, it can really shine. The second time, it wasn’t on tap any longer(things rotate frequently) but I was able to have many tasters before making up my mind. Don’t take tasters for granted. Some of the competition in the neighborhood can be a little stingy, so it’s an extra benefit that the staff here realize the value of a free taster or three. The only downside was that on my first visit, an incredibly loud and fratty group of bros was chillin inside, drinking shots. Shots, seriously, in a beer bar? Regardless, I’ll be back. Will have to try the food some time soon. Keep up the awesome, Roundhouse!

Great place to find Texas style BBQ in Hong Kong. They have an excellent selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles.
