The Coffee Academics

The décor inside is so cute and comfy, with the painted surfboards and wooden tables, I’m in love with this place the moment I walked in. I don’t suppose I’d mind if they serve bad coffee, but of course with a name like this, they do know how to brew a good cup and draw a pretty latte art. There are quite a few coffee options, including different brew methods.
One side of the shop is mostly opened to outside, so you can watch the beach and enjoy the breeze (if weather is right). There are also a lot of sparrows flying in and out of the shop, which is really cute. Yup, if I were a bird, I’d love this place too.

They make good coffee and good food. I will be back, although the babychinno is not the weight watches version, but still awesome.

While i was planning my HK trip, i already googled The Coffee Academics («TCA») and listed the Repulse Bay Shop as a must-​visit.
TCA is nestled in the heart of «The Pulse», a brand new shopping mall, and just steps away from the sugary sands of Repulse Bay Beach.
The interior has an upscale look & feel, while nicely dressed baristas are running around in the background.
Still, u have to get up and order at the counter; when u do so, u’ll notice the following sentence on the chalkboard: «a min. spending of 70 hk dollar per person is appreciated» (= 8.2 €).
Coffee connoisseurs will be delighted with the diversity of coffee brewing methods (Chemex, Aeropress,…) and the opportunity to taste a sip of a world-​renowned specialty coffee like Jamaica Blue Mountain.
I chose for the JWF blend (Chemex, 98 hk dollar /​12 €) and drank my most expensive cup of Joe! Not a coffee lover? Don’t worry, other beverage and (pricey) food options are available.

They forgot my order here. The whole wait staff was just oblivious. After we reminded them of our order they gave no apologies. Then when we got the check they had actually charged us for a large instead of the small that we ordered.
The coffee itself is actually decent which is a shame since service was so bad. Especially when it was a very quiet time for the café.

38 $ for a small latte that’s smaller than the size of my iPhone 5! I like milky more than the bitter. So I opt for half shot of coffee in my latte. Mannnnnnn ohhhhhh mannmnmn that is some strong stuff as it had my heart pounding during my presentation at work!!! Lol. Definitely a wake up call in only half shot.
Haven’t tried to the food yet here but i will be sure to update as i visit.
It’s a great location as they open their windows for an open view of the beach on a nice day. Cozy coffee tables and the cutest coffee accessories that can easily be small gifts!
Next door is the Classified café, but if you want a kick, come here…
