This is a touristy spot in the IFC mall with a bit of a wait. We had their chicken mushroom congee and noodle wonton soup along with some dimsum for lunch. They were delicious but overpriced for Hong Kong especially when you can find similar quality in cheaper non-touristy areas.

Hoo boy, this was definitely once of the pricier places I visited in HK that felt overpriced for the amount of food served and the quality of service. Located in a mall, this place was pretty easy to find. My friends and I were hungry after a long day of sightseeing, and seeing how this place opened late, we came here in hopes of eating a tasty late night dinner. Upon being seated, we were pretty excited to see the extensive menu(which had English on it). With various noodle and rice dishes offered, along with dim sum, it was a bit tough to decide. Finally, after much debate, all of us were ready to order. It did take some standing up and staring at the various wait staff to notice us, so do note that you will have to try your best in catching anyone’s attention at the restaurant. For food, I ordered fried noodle rolls with the XO sauce. My friends got other noodle dishes and overall, for the price you pay, it’s not worth the small portion. The food itself was alright(street food version of the noodles are a whole lot better and cheaper) but service was meh. Also, do keep in mind that nothing is for free at this place. If you touch your tea, you pay. If you ask for a cup of water, you pay. The only thing that could be considered as free was a cup of ice, but even then, to secure some ice, you will have to endure some incredulous looks from the staff as they try to process your request. Overall, this place is so-so and if you’re in need of a meal and want a pretty setting, this would be a good to stop by. Otherwise, if you can hold your hunger, I would recommend trying other hole in the walls cafes of HK or some street food.

Up on the 3rd floor of the IFC mall, we walked around the mall a few times before finding this place. It’s a pretty big restaurant in the lovely IFC mall. We ordered the congee with chicken and mushroom, and it was amazing! The congee was super tasty with light and delicate flavors. This restaurant has seriously ruined all other congee for me. We tried to eat the chicken but it was basically just bones with some meat still on it for flavor. The wonton and noodle soup was great as well. The broth was also really tasty but not super oily or salty. The steamed honey bbq pork rolls were so good! The filling was the best part! Now excuse me while I reminisce about the congee and the bbq pork rolls.

While staying in a nearby hotel in Hong Kong, we didn’t know which restaurants were peanut oil-free. We picked Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop after observing its popularity. We got a pot of tea for the whole table. We shared 6 dishes and 3 desserts among the six of us. The food was delicious but the portion size was small, which left us feeling hungry. The Fish Brisket in Black Bean Sauce consisted of sliced fish in a spicy black bean sauce. If you know me, I didn’t have much of it. The Chinese Broccoli was soft and I liked how the Oyster Sauce was served on the side. The Chu Hau Beef Brisket consisted of beef brisket and tendon in a flavorful brown sauce(made from Chu Hau paste, ginger, star anise, and garlic). The Steamed Beef with Scallion consisted of thinly sliced tender beef garnished with scallion. I liked how this dish was light. The Steamed Chicken consisted of literally a steamed chicken, although the parts they gave us were very bony. The Prawn Balls in Sweet and Sour Sauce consisted of deep fried shrimp sautéed with bell peppers and pineapples in a Hong Kong style sweet and sour sauce. It was my favorite dish of the night. For dessert, we were sad they were sold out of Chrysanthemum Tea Jelly. We decided to get other desserts — Stewed Pear with Almond, Red Bean Sweet Soup with Lotus Seed, and Black Sesame Soup. I felt like the dessert soups were surprisingly not sweet at all.

Today, I ate the silkiest and most flavorful congee that I’ve ever had in my life. I wonder for how many hours the congee had to simmer before it got to that level of smoothness. In addition to the congee from here, I had to try one of their dim sum dishes. I chose lo baak gou(蘿蔔糕), one of my favorites. It was cut into thirds — like chopstick manageable pieces. And they took the time to pan crisp each side of each strip. That added the extra smokiness and crunchiness that I crave. It all was a pretty good value for the price, considering the ambience of the place and its location. The service was above average for HK. If we were able to get the attention of the numerous staff easier, the service would be great(for HK).

I am a fan! Tasty has several branches and this one is so conveniently located in IFCmall just above the airport express counter! The branch in Wanchai just got a Michelin star this year The food here is solid and the service here is ok for the HK standard. Price is not too high. Basically the famous dishes here are wonton and congee but I also got dimsum items and they were all good. The liushabao was great and the ha gaw was pretty decent as well.

Situated in the IFC Mall, this is one of my regular lunch/dinner places. It has a wide range of local Cantonese noodles, rice and congees. All are of very good quality. Price wise, may be slightly more expensive than some other places in Central. But it has the convenience of IFC Mall and a nice surrounding.

I went here during a layover in Hong Kong. what a great find! I had the wonton noodle soup, egg rolls, cha-su bao, fried wantons and stewed pear for dessert. It was a fantastic meal. Way too much for one person. The wonton soup was enough to satisfy me but wanted to try more. The service was fast. Staff was a little abrupt but typical of the service you will get in Hong Kong and China. The restaurant itself is small but very nice. I’ll definitely come back. Next time, I’ll try the congee.

After looking around for somewhere to eat, found this place and it wasn’t terribly busy, had to wait maybe 15 min for a table. Wide selection of food options. What was funny was that we were asked if we wanted bbq pork and we noticed every table was being asked the same. A special or were they trying to get ride of it? They portions are small, but price is good.

Thought I would give this a go as the reviews are generally favourable. My lasting opinion of this place is that it is a upmarket classy noodle and congee joint. Both the noodles and congee were good but no better than small outlets on the streets but you’re paying the equivalent of 4 times the price. For that you do get a clean restaurant, uniformed waiter service and a good ambience but quite frankly there’s no real need if you’re eating noodles or congee for this kind of establishment.

Food(***** out of *****); Notice the delicately thin skinned wantons. You can see through the wonton wrapper. These are the extra big ones, called Shui Gaw. It did not have as much shrimp eggs in the soup as Chee Kei(池記) so the broth is less pungent, but the wontons has some dried scallops inside, so the wontons are a bit pungent in flavor. It also has bits of mushrooms and bamboo shoots inside, making it very complexly flavorful. I did not have a chance to sample their other signature dish, the congee. However, I did have their deep fried bread stick wrapped with rice pasta(Zhaliang). Other places that serve this often use stale bread. They use freshly fried bread inside freshly steamed rice pasta. Nothing special as they serve this in other Chinese restaurants, but their quality is consistent. You’ll never get a bad zhaliang from them. Service(***** out of *****); Unlike other Canton restaurants, the service is stellar. The manager picked up a napkin off the floor. The servers will refill your tea. Very impressive. Atmosphere(***** out of *****); Nice open kitchen and tastefully decorated. No table sharing. English menus. Conclusion(***** out of *****); For great wontons and stellar service, try Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop!

Great cheap and casual meal in a nice environment at Tasty Congee and Noodle. The menu is huge and a little overwhelming. I like that they give you a paper menu to check off which dishes you wish to order. There were some specials that appeared on the menu as well, which we requested on the side. We were offered tea, but there is a small charge for this. 5HKD per person. We were also given a two special appetizers for the New Years holiday, but we realized that there was also a 10HKD charge for each dish of this this as well. Also not a big deal, but sneaky sneaky. The congee is very tasty, and with this you must order the fried dough. My favorite congee by far comes with preserved egg and pork, and this dish did not disappoint. It was loaded up generously with slices of black egg and tender pork. The fried dough was definitely the best I’ve had ever; extremely crispy and fresh, making it the perfect partner to the delicious congee. Another favorite of mine was the beef chow fun with black bean sauce. The noodles are extremely silky in texture! Definitely beats any chow fun I could get at home. The location in the IFC mall is super convenient and pleasant. The atmosphere is nice and clean, and the service, while not the friendliest, is extremely efficient. Although there may be a queue, the lines move quickly and the food comes out fast. Worth a visit for a post shopping snack!

One of our best meals in Hong Kong. As the name of the restaurant would suggest, you should order congee and noodles here. Honestly, it was some of the best congee and chow fun I’ve had in my life. The congee was so silky smooth, rich and very flavorful. The dry fried chow fun was delicious. I could eat here all day everyday.

Good wonton is hard to find… especially in the States. That being said, I always try to get my fill before I head back. After looking at their portions(the girl next to me ordered a congee & wonton), I decided to also order several dishes… just to get a little taste of everything. Ordered: Plain Congee — There’s a skill to making plain congee taste this good. Broth is full of flavor and each grain of rice was simmered to that consistency where the congee is not too thick and not too watery. Large Wonton Noodles — Bouncy noodles, flavorful broth, and delicate wontons. Maybe a little smaller than Tsim Chai Kee’s wontons, but still delicious nonetheless. Crispy shrimp, flavorful pork, and thin silky wonton wrappers. Rice Paper Wrapped Fried Dough — Fresh and crispy. Rice paper was thin and soft. The fried dough was crispy and airy, accompanied by dipping sauce. I was able to finish the congee and wonton without a problem. The fiancé and I split the fried dough. The restaurant is clean and orderly, with a lot of wait staff… making the wait go by pretty quickly. Order a couple dishes and eat up!

You might think it’s a little pricey for congee and noodles here but their food quality is really stable. Please try their fried noodles 肉絲炒麵! I can say it is the best in HK!

Tasty Congee Noodle Wantun Hong Kong 正斗粥麵專家 is located inside Hong Kong International Airport in departure Terminal 1 /Level 7 Food Court. If you ever have a bloody long layover and is wondering ‘What is good to eat at the Hong Kong Airport?’ then a simple yet satisfying bowl of wonton is your answer. Tasty is actually part of a chain and has various locations throughout HK: 圓方店 Elements Shop, 中環店 Central Shop, 九龍灣店 Kowloon Bay Shop, 跑馬地店 Happy Valley Shop, etc. When I first got my bowl I wondered how many wontons were actually beneath the golden egg noodles. The 4 wontons were bouncy, fresh and well portioned and seasoned. The skin is thin and slippery. The broth is deliciously rich and I didn’t feel too thirsty afterwards because God forbid I should visit the tiny lavatory 50 times during a gruesome 12 hr flight back home. And as for Dave who ordered Café de Coral 大家樂 stared enviously at my bowl. I don’t blame him because who told him to order an egg and ham sammy with a bowl of water downed oatmeal?

正斗粥麵專家Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop is decent if you looking for a restaurant inside IFC to enjoy some Cantonese classic dishes. Both the Wantun Noodle 正斗鮮蝦雲吞麵 and Beef Rice Noodle 干炒牛河 we ordered were just OK or even Meh. Nothing I would want to come back again because of the food. But the location is convenient and the environment is clean and seating is comfy. Their original location何洪記 does has a Michelin 1 Star rating. Maybe I should give them a try instead next time. Maybe Michelin is giving them a Recommendation based on the service and environment? both which is really good.

Tasty is probably my favorite restaurant in IFC. Most restaurants are too upscale and expensive for just a quick and casual meal, leaving Tasty as one of the few options for a reasonably priced fare. Whenever my mother and I send my aunt off to the airport, we always come to the Central station, where she checks in her luggage, and then head for a last meal at Tasty. From the check-in area, all you have to do is take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Don’t bother exiting the area, going out and then walking into IFC through its main entrance, because you’ll just be making a huge round if you do that! Tasty gets really popular around lunch and dinner times. You’ll have to get a number and wait outside until it’s called — don’t miss your number because it will probably be a while before you can get a table again! My mother, my aunt and I usually order some dimsum to share, and the zha leung(fried doughsticks wrapped with rice rolls) as well. This is one of my favorite dishes here — the rice rolls are thin and soft, providing a nice contrast to the crunchy inside. I also get a wonton noodles for myself, which is the signature here. Needless to say, this is really good — the dumplings are nice and tender and the portion is just right for me. They also do lots of different congees here too. I would definitely recommend coming to Tasty if you’re at IFC, or if you’re planning to check in at the central station, come early to make time for a meal here. Just be sure to come early enough — the wait for a table can be pretty insane, especially if you’re here on a weekend!
