Pearl Delight

Pearl Delight is one of the few restaurants in New Town Plaza that has good food yet you never need to wait for more than 15 minutes for a table. Thanks to the New Town Plaza App, you can get a ticket before you even arrive at the restaurant!
Pearl Delight serves a variety of different regional Chinese dishes all day long. Cantonese, Shanghainese, Sichuan style… you name it. Besides dim sum, you can also get fried rice, fried noodles, roast meat, stir-​fried dishes, etc.
Among the many dishes they serve, I highly recommend their barbecued pork. Remember to request for fatty barbecued pork if you don’t mind the fat. It’s sooooo tender and succulent. I have a very picky taste for barbecued pork and I can say this one is to die for. Another recommendation is the spicy jellyfish! I like how it’s rich in sesame oil and chili oil flavor.

Dim sum used to be my favorite thing to do in the mornings. Spending some time lining up waiting for tables with my parents. Watching the dim sum carts pushing back and forth. Hearing the staff shouting out what they have in their carts. Such memory. Don’t know when restaurants start to serve dim sum even in the evening, now basically twenty four a day for some places. Though everything has changed — we no longer have people strolling the dim sum carts or shouting out the dishes they have in the carts, the taste is still the same.
Peal Delight serves dim sum all day and its signature dish has to be the Char Siu (barbequed pork) — Some even call this place the King of Char Siu. That is how good this is. You can see how amazing this is by having the char siu literally melt in your mouth. The meat is very tender and nicely charred. With the honey glaze, it has got to be the best char siu I have ever tasted.
To be honest, I was kind of overwhelmed by how good this is because normally places like this do not really deliver (I am sorry… this is kind of true); but thank god that this place has proven me wrong. One thing though, please expect a long waiting time as this is located inside the Shatin mall which is super packed every single day, so expect some time to wait for tables. In the meantime, just dream about the char siu you are about to taste!
