I’d been here a while ago for dinner and thought it wasn’t great, but better than average. Decided to try it again for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The lunch set included sour or salad, entrée and tea or coffee for $ 128(could vary a bit depending on your entrée choice). The bread that started meal was disappointing(flimsy and didn’t have any taste), but the green salad was a nice, light precursor to the main event. The Baked Mostaccioli with big chunks of sausage was covered in melted cheese. The pasta was cooked well and sauce was flavorful with a hint of sweetness from the chorizo. Some red chili flakes on top for a bit of kick and it was the perfect dish. Good portion definitely left me full without overdoing it. Service was on point refilling water a few times without needing to ask and clearing used dishes rather quickly. There weren’t too many entrees on the menu that interested me, but I’d come back for the Bakes Mostaccioli again.

Nice tucked away spot for drinks and/or food. Nice to sit outside and enjoy the breeze. The service was good as well. You just need to find the slightly hidden stairwell.

My mom had the baked Mostaccioli and I had the Lobster Fra Diavolo. They were both amazing! I love that they give you a lot of lobster, and the fettuccine were soft and I usually like it that way. We also had grilled mushrooms and grilled vegetables. They were great and with good value. One thing I am not a fan of is they charge the tap water. I have not been to a lot of restaurants in Hong Kong for the past few years. But I do not recall places charged me for tap water. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, reminded me of Florence. If you do not mind second-hand smoking, you can sit outside which I think you can have a better feel.

I love this place for their roasted chicken lunch. I was even debating if I should mention that here, because I don’t want to create more competition. Yet… They deserve recognition for what they do so well! I try to come here by noon during the weekday because they run out of them! The pasta and other dishes are also solid. They are a little tricky to find. It’s easy to spot their sign with the mustache on the street, but you have to walk down a little alley and stairs to reach the lower level restaurant. They have great al fresco table options too :) perfect lunch spot!

First of all, what is mostaccioli? Mostaccioli is basically a larger variation of penne with angled ends. That’s all there is to it. Abbreviated to Mo Bros, Mostaccioli Brothers is quite tricky to find. It is situated on Elgin Street but can only be reached via a narrow entrance. The green signage looks simple enough and doesn’t really entice a potential customer, hope they change the signage. Mo Bros has two sections: the traditional indoor restaurant and the walled garden al fresco section for those nights with better weather. The intimate indoor area has high ceilings with a huge painting of the Italian countryside adoring the wall. The hanging prosciutto was a nice touch, not sure what the others were(probably cured sausages?) but one looked like an Iberico leg. Tables have red and white checkered tablecloths and the seats were wide and comfortable. The majority of what Mo Bros offers are Italian-American fare. I am a fan of their menu design; the graphic designer did a great job with it. It’s divided into antipasti, starters, pastas, zuppa e insalata(soups and salads), mains, sides, cold cuts and desserts. The staff served ciabatta with a tangy tomato and garlic dip while we perused the menu. We tried the baked mostaccioli, a big plate of creamy mostaccioli cooked al dente with creamy mozzarella, however, it was bit heavy-handed with the salt. Their cream-free carbonara was underwhelming; they just replaced the cream with eggs. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, so to speak. Overall, I really liked their American portion sizes and intimate feel of the restaurant. I shouldn’t fail to mention the great service too; the staff were really amiable and smiled a lot. I’ve only been here once to judge it so easily so I’ll be back for the other mostaccioli dishes.
