Maison Eric Kayser

Maison Eric Kayser is an upscale-​feel bakery offering a variety of baked goods, breads, and made-​to-​order sandwiches. Though I’ve been living in Happy Valley for over a month now, rarely do I venture to this corner of the neighborhood (Ventris Rd). So happy I did, because I just discovered my favorite new sandwich in HK!
Enter said sandwich darling. The Beef Focaccia is jammed with layers of roasted beef, brie cheese, a light brushing of olive oil, black truffle mayonnaise, rocket, and finely-​sliced Parmesan cheese. I chose to have it on a baguette instead as focaccia isn’t really my jam — and I greatly enjoyed the familiar crusty and chewy juxtaposition of a well-​executed baguette. But before we stop talking about this sandwich, did I mention the black truffle mayo? Chills. So interesting and complex, it’s quite the scrumptious indulgence.
I haven’t had the best luck with the pastries at other Maison Kayser locations (I’ve tried the apple turnover which was filled with what tasted like applesauce vs. apples), but I now know I’m meant to succumb to the siren call of their sandwiches.
