Dai Siu Yeah is one of my personal favourites when I am looking for a quick bite nearby. I’ve brought lots of friends here too and they have always raved about it afterwards.
In the front of the restaurant, there’s a window where you can see the chefs cutting the Hainan Chicken, as you walk in, you see all the walls covered with Hong Kong celebrity posters, all autographed!
Their speciality is their Hainan Chicken Rice. It’s seriously one of the best ones in HK, at least out of the ones I’ve been to. They do it Thai style, served with a spicy sauce on the side. I always get the hainan chicken rice but only drumstick (+$ 5), the meat is so much more smooth, although it’s higher in calories, but what the heck right?
Aside from their signature dish, they also have a few other dishes that I get from here sometimes, their macaroni in tomato soup, their baked pastas and their soupy rice. I think their macaroni in tomato soup is famous here, i always see people ordering it besides the hainan chicken rice.
I already have favourites here but I really should start trying the other stuff, like their pork on rice. I always see people ordering this too but when I see other people ordering this, it looks a little too oily and puts me off.
They also have daily double boiled soup, which is nice when it’s colder out.
The quality of food here is really consistent and satisfying! I’ll come back anytime.
