Definitely not a place you would stumble upon, La Table de Patrick is quietly tucked away in a commercial building across from Lan Fong Yuen (蘭芳園).
The décor is resemblant to a boutique hotel — red walls, designer lighting and an open kitchen. The restaurant is cozy, with the dining area smaller than my living room, I’d guess it houses around 25 guests at full capacity, which is definitely not a negative thing. You can tell that Patrick is a very experienced restauranteur by the thought he puts into the restaurant; there are 3 floor staff, so the table-​to-​waiter ratio is around 4, so staff are quite attentive. In addition, nothing will get lost in translation since the three floor staff are respectively Caucasian, Chinese and Filipino, talk about equal rights employer!
The food doesn’t need much mention since Patrick Goubier has already built quite a reputation around Chez Patrick. But as a general introduction, Patrick serves traditional French fare without all the pretense that goes with it.
Prices are okay (in my opinion anyway), for reference, my tasting menu that didn’t include wine was HK$ 698+10%. I think the set with wine is an extra HK$ 300.
