The Harbour Plaza Hotel in North Point is a great hotel. It’s 4-​stars, so not one of the fancy places in HK, but it is a good solid performer for the Island.
What I like the most about the hotel, is that it is family friendly. Of course they have regular rooms, but they also have suite rooms with a living room (and small kitchen), separate bedroom, and bathroom. The living room sofa pulls out, so you could have a couple of kids in it. These suites are perfect for visiting family, who need to stay for more than a few days, and perhaps have kids in tow. They also have a great swimming pool which will tire the little ones out!
The cost is quite reasonable, you’ll have to check their website for the exact figure, but in comparison to the hotels closer to Central, they are good. This is probably a lot to do with location, being in North Point, and the fact that the hotel is a little tired.
First, the location; it’s not bad, it’s very close to North Point MTR, and with the abundance of taxis and public transport, you will never be to far away from anything in HK. Second, the décor; it is a bit old «Travel Lodge» style (and for those who don’t get my UK reference, think good US motel), in that it a bit old fashioned and tired. Really, who on earth has a stripy sofa anymore? Don’t believe me, take a look at their website.
In all, once you get over the awful furniture, and the «tiny bit further» location, it is actually a really nice place to stay. You shouldn’t be spending to much time staring at the stripy sofa anyway, not with the whole of HK out there!
