Absolutely wonderful! Everything we ordered was sooo good. Service was quick and those adorable piggy custard buns lived up to their expectations. An amazing experience of authentic dim sum dining!

A little out of the way from where we were staying, but the food was absolutely delicious! There was almost no wait, the menu and ordering were extremely straight-forward so no problem with language barrier, the food was served quickly and was deliciously fresh and flavorful! Everything was delicious! Would definitely go there again!

Yummy inexpensive dimsum! There are a few locations, my group decided on this because it was a bit out of the way and wouldn’t be as crowded. We were right! Came on Saturday around 11.30AM, and we got seated right away. The service staff here are really nice. Maybe not exceptional as compared to restaurants in the States, but after experiencing very horrible service in most HK dining places, the staff here are so much nicer in comparison. We did not understand their typical order sheet, and they provided us with an English menu and order sheet! Food did not take too long to come too. My group really liked the crispy rice flour rolls with shrimp, something different from the traditional rice flour rolls. The piggy custard buns were cute and delicious too, but we were expecting more custard in the buns. The mushroom buns were… Strange. They look like real mushrooms but they’re just buns that look like mushrooms. The filling inside wasn’t nice, you can probably give that a miss. Everything else is not bad! Dine on weekdays from 2.30−5.30PM for 30% off your bill!

As always a pleasure to eat here! It’s cheap and tasty, with a nice atmosphere. The bast thing to eat is the wasabi filled fried balls, and the pork buns. A must!

Wow! I’ve had my fair share of dim sum places in the states. But this place has wowed me and I now know what authentic dim sum taste like and offers. Its not a huge restaurant and they don’t push the carts around for you to pick the items as what I’m used too in the states. I Don’t speak a lick of the local language. I’m so glad Unilocal was here to guide me in the right direction. I was able to order everything I wanted based on the reviews and pictures. Lunch for 2 came out to $ 20US dollars. That’s a steal in my book.

Fast and tasty fried wonton. Fast service. Shrimp dumplings is very good(thin skin) Bring an indoor jacket –the AC here is very cold. Please note the cow stomach was very tough and chewy. I would recommend to stay away from it

We landed in Hong Kong on a Saturday morning and really wanted some good dim sum without too much of a wait. Found Dim Dum Sum online with a location nearby and promptly went for it. Your handed a number and a menu sheet while you wait and you’ll see many of the known chefs on the window trying DimDimSum(Anthony Bourdain, Eric Ripert, etc). We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Service is no-nonsense and quick, ask for an English menu if needed. Many of the dim sum dishes we haven’t seen in the US and I would recommend you look at the symbols for those with the thumbs-up as their specialties/favorites. We often order the Shrimp roll and their version the shrimp was crispy, really good! The Shui Mai had a mini egg inside and was soupy, that was unique too. Their pineapple bun had chucks of pineapple inside. Tip: They don’t provide napkins, either bring your own or spend 2HKD for a pack of napkins from them.

Great little place filled with locals. Fast, casual and very tasty! Don’t expect too much in terms of presentation or fanciful, extensive menu. Would definitely go back when I am next in HK.

These places are delicious! We went to a few around Hong Kong and we’re not disappointed at either location! You can eat lots of good food for a great price. And food comes out quickly and is delicious. Perfect for going with big groups, getting various dishes and sharing. I highly recommend eating at one or more of these locations when in the Hong Kong area!

On my trip to Hong Kong we found this place. Seriously this was the best restaurant that we went to our time there. I went with a group of 5 people so we ordered quite a bit of food. And everything was delicious. The food was very quick and the service was great. They make the ordering process very easy as they have a menu that you can write your order on. This was very helpful for us as we spoke English and there could have been a language barrier. We loved this place so much that we had to check out the other location while we were there. If you are in the area you HAVE to try this place.

Seriously the best dim sum restaurant ever! Don’t mind the fact that all the dim sum I have ever had has been in California, but still, this takes the cake! Quality: Unbeatable. Everthing is made fresh(I assume) or at least it tastes fresh as far as steamed dumplings and pork buns go. All proportioned and packed neatly. Environment: Coming from a state where space is everything, this restaurant makes do with the minimal, and they make it work. Never have I seen a restaurant hold so many people during usual lunch rush, yet rarely make people wait and serve the food on time. They deserve an A++ for that. PRICE: INSANELY inexpensive for the quality and service. For two very hungry people with big stomachs and even bigger appetites, youre probably looking at a $ 60HKD bill? or $ 7USD for six orders. Not too sure on the price because the beau picks up the tab, but that’s a close estimate. But anyways, you’ll leave with a happy tummy AND wallet. Recommendations: CUSTARDPIGS, CUSTARDPIGS, CUSTARDPIGS! And did I mention the custard pigs? They’re adorable, instagram-worthy, and deliciously(not overly) sweet. A must-have. Shrimp dumplings, bbq pork buns… anything shrimp and pork based really is good. As for the chicken feet and such things, well they are not my cuppa tea, but if you’re into that, I’m sure they make them tasty. So if ever you’re in kowloon looking for a good and cheap lunch, go to dimdimsum!!!

I’ve been a little busy moving into this new neighbourhood so my dining experiences have mostly been«whatever is in the fridge, I eat». But now that I’ve settled into Jordan, I knew I had to check out Dim Dim Sum for a weekend yum cha. Posters plastered all over advertising the eatery as one of the best dim sum spots in town. Not sure if Anthony Bourdain actually went to THIS branch, as there are a few more scattered around HK. One qualm I had was with the pineapple buns. The HK pineapple bun I know and love harms no actual pineapples in the making of the bun. This particular bun had a little pineapple sliced surprised inside, which honestly put me off(I’m not a fan of pineapples). There are also advertising mushroom buns which taste nothing like mushrooms, my friend noted. Mind games aside, we enjoyed the Siu mai, har gao, and eggplant dim sum(I’m not sure what to call it). The Cheong fan was nicely rolled, not too thick. However, the xiao long bao had too much meat, not enough luscious porky soup. Would not order again. This will likely become my go to on a lazy yum cha Sunday, as it is now my local and does dim sum all day errrday. And I’m definitely not complaining.

They have a good selection of dim sum dishes and I love how you can easily order items by checking it off the paper menu! The dishes here are very fresh and hot, as they come out straight from the kitchen. Congee– delicious! I love the addition of salted eggs Pineapple buns– There are actually pineapple pieces in the custard filling. The buns are always fresh and toasty. Beef wrapped noodle– the noodles were a bit too gelatinous. I probably would skip this the next time I’m here. Pan fried stuffed eggplant with teryaki sauce– This is my favorite dish here! The eggplant and sauce go so well together. Deep fried dumpling with wasabi filling– Interesting to try, but I don’t think the wasabi filling was particularly delicious. Abalone stir fried noodles– Very yummy! The noodles were delicious! Beef and fried egg on steamed rice– Nothing special, I would skip this. Steamed rice and Chinese sausage– Also nothing special.

We were thinking of visiting Tim Ho Wan, of the Michelin fame, when I came across this place, Dimdimsum, which received the 2012 Newsweek Foodie Award as one of the 101 best places to eat in the world. Now, that’s a pretty impressive title, so we decided to try this place instead. The shop is in a rather out-of-the-way location. It’s smallish, but clean enough with a traditional Chinese décor. The dim sum list isn’t extensive but enough to order. When the food came, we were somewhat disappointed. What? 101 best place? It won’t even make it to 1001 in the world! I don’t even think it makes my 101 personal list. Okay, I will say the flavor was not bad, but then it nothing spectacular. Especially not in this city with a million choices for dim sum. Maybe that award set our expectation too high. I was especially disappointed with the lava pig bun(a pig shaped bun with lava egg custard inside). My poor piggies must have gone through a gang fight in the bamboo steamer, what with faces cracked and brain spilling out. I can’t even snap a nice pic of them. For me, the presentation of dim sum is important, and good chefs spend a lot of time perfecting the skills to twist and shape the dough of a dumpling or bun. This really shows that the chefs are not taking care or pride in their products. 3.5 stars, down to 3 for the presentation.

Dimdimsum dimdimsum specialty shop Dim sum is definitely the hardest meal for me to eat in Hong Kong because of all my food allergies. This restaurant is very popular and serves dim sum all day long. I’ve even stopped here as late as 10:30pm to grab a quick meal to go after playing volleyball. I always order their sticky rice which is enough to fill me up. I also like their pineapple buns which I will have when I’m cheating on my gluten free intolerance. They’re not traditional, but their freshly baked mini buns are served hot with real pineapple custard on the inside. My husband like to eat various dishes here including the deep fried dumplings with wasabi filling, and the pork dumplings with crab roe. I do have to say that their menu options look pretty tasty and they cook the food fresh throughout the day. This restaurant was given a 2012 Newsweek Foodie Award as one of the 101 best places to eat around the world. This is pretty impressive considering it’s located in a small neighborhood on the Kowloon side in Hong Kong. If you’re inHong Kong, this is a great place to stop for a mix of traditional and modern dim sum.

Dimsum is a big part of my Sundays. I like to visit different places and try all the dishes old and new. Dimdimsum is a good solid choice any day. Advertised to be one of the 101 best places to eat, Dimdimsum is a place that offers only dim sum. Dim sum in the morning, afternoon, and evening. I love the idea of that because that means I don’t have to wake up before noon to make sure I get my Ha Gow fix. That itself is a great selling point. The wait isn’t too bad during peak times. Unless you’re a large party, you can expect no more than 15 – 20 minutes ok a busy sunday morning. If you’re like me, a night owl, you can benefit by coming a bit later in the afternoon. There is almost never a wait if you come here after 2pm. Another great thing about going in the later times are the discounts! They offer 30% off dim sum when you order between 2−5pm Monday-Fridays. The décor of this place is pretty plain. You see oversized bird cages over lights to give you that old school Hong Kong feel, but thats about it. The tables are not the cleanest. It gets a quick wipe down before the staff throw a disposable place mat over it with your chopsticks and a bowl. Be sure to bring your own tissues when you come because they don’t offer any for free. The food is «made to order» which should actually be «steamed to order.» I would believe it more if they said all the dim sum is pre-made ready to be steamed. Taste is pretty on point. The flavors are there and is always consistent. Good, but not great. Just a-ok for me. =)
