Das Gute Bakery

I tend to pop in to Das Gute for a doughnut, croissant or fresh crusty baguette. Which are all yummy. There is a much greater array of baked goods on offer though, so fill your boots.
Some of the items look a bit strange to a western, meat and potatoes girl like me. I tend to avoid any red bean items — or anything green and some of the cakes on display look like they belong in a toy shop. Relatively innocent-​looking apple Danishes for example somehow manage to hide some sort of cream which made them taste different. Not bad, but just not what I was expecting, so buying anything new can be a bit of a lucky dip. Gotta love the half loafs of chocolate croissant bread though …
There is also a dine-​in al carte menu which features pasta, seafood, club sandwiches and burgers. Typically for the area, seafood features strongly, seafood spaghetti with lobster cream sauce (HKD88), but there are alternatives slow roasted chick breast on pumpkin stewed rice (HKD78) and BLT American style beef burger with fries (HKD78).
If eating on premises (al carte or baked goods) there is a 10% surcharge, which must be paid separately, and in cash.
