Cotai Water Jet

Interested in going to Macau hassle free and not have to deal with a pushy crowd? Then hit up this ferry company and do it the fancy way of going first class. From the experience that my friends and I went though, paying a bit extra for first class was worth it. Originally, all of us had planned on going to Macau on the cheapest route (via economy class), but on the day of, most of the seats had been sold out and only first class was available. Furthermore, the time selection was quite limited with other economy seats, so boom, first class we went.
Prior to boarding, you would first secure your ticket, go through security /​customs check and then wait in the boarding area. Do keep in mind that the queue does grow long quite fast and there will be people with luggage. My suggestion is to wear comfy footwear and no heels /​flip flops due to the highly probable chance that your feet will get rolled over by the rolling suitcases. Boarding itself was quite troublesome. Not only do you have to fight through the crowd to get on the ferry, but you will have to endure some minor elbowing and pushing as people rushed through.
Once you get to the ferry, economy class will be seated on the bottom deck while first class get seated at the upper deck. If you’re in a group, make sure to indicate that when purchasing your ticket so that you and your group can be seated relatively close together. For first class perks, you do get complimentary beverages and a cute box full of small snacks. Seats are super comfortable and the ride itself was super smooth. If you like taking pictures, there are windows everywhere in the upper deck, so snap away those pics at your heart’s content. Plus, the atmosphere was quite relaxing and quiet, so taking a one hour nap is a pretty idea too.
Upon departure, first class does have priority in leaving first which proved to be a plus for my friends and I because we did beat the crowd in reaching the customs area.
Overall, I highly recommend going first class for a ferry ride to Macau if you can afford it /​cost doesn’t matter much. Hassle free and the flexibility in time is a major plus, especially when you’re purchasing the tickets the day of.

In order to get to Macau side or Taipa side of Macau via a ferry, your options are limited. You either travel via the red boat fleet called Turtle Jet or you travel via the blue boat fleet called Cotai Water Jet. Both are around the same cost, both are around the same experience, both of them take the same amount of time to get over to Macau. We have simply chosen Cotai Water Jet as our preferred ferry.
Although you would have to visit their website to get specfics on cost, I think it is worth it myself to pay a bit more to be on the upper deck. The trip is only an hour and to many for an hour, the upgraded ticket would not be worth the money. I enjoy the upgraded ticket for there are less people on the upper deck, a little larger seats are more comfortable, you get to board first and depart first, better views, a snack pack served (including one free canned drink… with beer being an option!) and finally, I don’t do well on boats due to motion sickness. Being upstairs in the middle section that is not so cramped makes it better when I get a headache and a my stomach is rolling half way through on a turbulent trip. All trips are not turblulent, but it depends on the weather.
Although I always wipe seats and trays down when I get to my seat because I feel like the crew could do a better job with germ control, the set up is pretty OK. The experience is consistent and comfortable and I have probably used the ferry a dozen times. Its not the Four Seasons of the waterways by any means, but clearly slapped with Venetian Macau marketing everywhere from the magazines in the seat back pockets to the preview of the Venetian playing on the TV monitors throughout, they have done a good job and is an OK way to travel by me.

The price for the first class is 33% less than the Turbojet’s superior class. The services was good and it was a very smooth and comfortable ride. The seating on the 2^nd level was a lot better than your economy section of the airplane and you can get a good rest for a 60 mins ride.

The Cotai Water Jet is a quick and easy way to make the trip from Hong Kong to Macau. Although I have always enjoyed their service, they have made some nice upgrades to the first class cabin, including free WiFi and a greatly improved snack pack — no more weird cookies, which have been replaced by a tasty sandwich, raisin cake, peanuts and Snickers bar, plus your choice of drink.
The big leather seats promise a comfortable journey, which is typically smooth and always on time. A tip for first time goers: I really do think it’s worth the extra bit of money to upgrade to first class (about $ 40 – 50). In part the ride is more comfortable but the real benefit is on arrival, when the first class cabin is unloaded first, meaning you get a significant head start on the immigration line. To me, that time saved alone is worth the bit of extra cost.
