A place you could walk past without noticing on Wellington Street. I was looking for a feed at almost 10pm and this little joint a little further up and across the road from Butcher’s Club caught my eye. This is apparently a Macau style noodle place with pork buns on the menu too. Menu is in Chinese but I did spy a laminated English translation offered to the Caucasians sitting in front of me. The noodles are served fast, you choose 3 toppings, type(thin/thick/oily/vermicelli/udon), style of noodle(soup/dry), soup base/sauces and a drink for $ 33! Obviously there are additions for variations like certain type of noodles +$ 1, cold drink +$ 3, additional topping +$ 4 but at these prices you really can’t complain. The service wasn’t too bad at 10pm, the ladies working there are an amusing bunch and indeed pretty loud in their conversations but you’re really not there for the ambience.

The Macau style mixed noodle is not my cup of tea. The sauce is definitely too salty and heavy in MSG, I felt so thirsty afterwards. The store is not only too crowded(which is normal actually), but also super noisy. Noisy not because the customers are all speaking, instead it’s because the aunties servers keep on chit chatting among themselves very loudly, kind of yelling, which makes basic conversion with my friend almost impossible… and I felt a bit dizzy after having a quick meal at an especially high decibel…

I am sold! my co-workers and I ordered delivery and I am inspired that budget lunch hunt still remains superising. I did hear this tiny popular shop for some time. With its root in Macau, it features dried noodles with all sort of toppings. And the price beats Lam Fong Yuen, regardless tourist-free. i went for chicken wing, mushroom, fried spring rolls, pork neck with bold noodle in Shacha source. The portion is huge that we almost can share. My coworker get the oily noodle, similar to Shanghai noodle. Easily ran out of source. Four toppings are requured for delivery min charge. How wrong can it be to follow the queue.

I have to say the food at that price taste alright. A bit on the salty side. It is indeed very cheap for 33 $ to get a drink, noodle and three toppings. The food served fast but they expect you to get out fast. However, I felt extremely disrespected by the waiting staffs through out the experience. I got seated and reseated. Rushed to order while they have a very confusing menu. Then when I finished my meal very fast, I was expected to get out of the restaurant. But I only sat down for 5 mins. And my girl friend still drinking her salty lemon spirit. Yet the waiting staffs asked us 7 times to take away the drink, even the drink is 100% full. The guy that we shared the table felt irritated by the waiting staffs too. I can say, the food is okay and cheap. But if you don’t mind to be treated terribly, come and try to enjoy it. For me, I don’t want to endure such terrible short moment I had at the restaurant.
