I Googled«Best Korean Fried Chicken in Hong Kong» last summer, and it led me to this little joint at the end of Kimberly Road in TST called HOF/Soju. I must say, it was actually worth going through the gauntlet of tailors and watch slingers. The chicken was delicious, the portion was enormous, and there was an unending loop of K Pop on the restaurant’s TV screen. Imagine my surprise when I happened upon another location right on Hennessey Street in Wan Chai! I immediately dragged my wife inside, as she needed to try this chicken I was raving about since July. And I’m happy to report that we were not disappointed. If you come with somebody, be keenly aware that the portions are mountainous. One order of the honey garlic wings was more than enough for both of us. We also got the fries, which were also more than enough for two hungry people. They were very crispy and tasty. The wait staff spoke little English, so that was a bit annoying, but hey– I no longer have to go to Kowloon to get this amazing chicken. That’s a win!

I came here because everybody was talking about their chicken. A little disappointed. If you never have Korean fried chicken, this is pretty good. But compare this to other Korean fried chicken I had before, it is not that special. Also I didn’t appreciate the chef warning us not to order that much. I came with my bf and we each order a plate. Little did we know a plate = 15+ pieces. Wasted a lot of $ and food. Also I didn’t like that they used all parts of a chicken. Korean fried chicken should only have wings and drumsticks…

(Note: Since my rating is purely based on their signature item I think they do well, it is not a compressive review of the restaurant as a whole.) Korean fried chicken take-away is the only thing I have tried there. I won’t call myself a KFC connoisseur but I have tried them at a handful of places in Seoul, and I can say that these folks are doing something right with their KFC! $ 160 for a half original and half sweet and spicy, with a side of pickled radish, lettuce salad and a can of fanta. I called to place an order and picked up in about 20 min on a Saturday afternoon(1:30 pm). Pretty efficient to me! The portion is right and the pieces generally have a reasonable balance of meat, bone and batter. I like that it is a comfortable level of spiciness to me — enough kick yet I don’t have to fight the heat. I’m not giving it a 5-star rating because I only do take-out. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself is not very appealing to me, even though I am aware fried chicken for sure is best eaten fresh.
