For aviation enthusiasts, this is a must visit place in your list when you visit Hong Kong Airport. Not only you get to enjoy the museum, you can also catch a movie or do some plane spotting with your DSLR camera at the sky deck. Plane spotting only when runway 25 in used. Depending on the season and wind direction, aircraft can either use runway 07 or 25. If 07 in used, you can forget about taking photos, for 25, most of the traffic would land on runway 25R, just follow the crowd, if you see them moving to the direction of runway 25L, it means something is coming in on that runway and usually the cargo planes land on that runway.
For non aviation enthusiasts, do drop by and discover more about aviation, the history of Kai Tak Airport and how the airline operation works, I find it to be very useful and informative. The Hong Kong aviation authorities are very encouraging towards the enthusiasts and I hope more airports can follow this example.
Head to terminal 2 departure hall and take the escalator up, you can’t miss it. Enjoy your time there!
