Aberdeen Sports Ground

My school was located in Aberdeen, so almost all our Sports Days were held at the Aberdeen Sports Ground. To get there, you can take pretty much any bus that goes through the Aberdeen tunnel — it’ll definitely pass by the Sports Ground, as the Sports Ground is actually just along the road where cars exit the tunnel.
I guess this Sports Ground is just like any other in Hong Kong. The track is 400m long, and there are clear markings at every 100m mark. The area encircled by the track is a huge grassy patch, where other sporting events like shot put or long jump can be held (there are two sand pits for long jump). The bleachers on the side can fit a whole school and more. I always thought the bleachers were really uncomfortable to sit on though, and the bleachers go quite high so it’s always annoying if you need to go to the highest bench just to get something and come down again!
There are your typical vending machines around with drinks like water, lemon tea, soft drinks etc. If you want something more substantial — i.e. food, there’s a counter that sells ice cream, chips and other snacks. The colorful ice pops — the ones where you break in two and give one to a friend — were always a favorite among us.
There are quite a few water fountains here too for you to refill your bottles. In my opinion, this Sports Ground has everything needed to run a successful Sports Meet — and on days where it’s not rented out, you’ll see athletes making use of the track for training. One thing though is that the toilets are not super clean here, but they’re not too terrible I guess!
