Doppio Espresso

Pretty good place actually, yes the staff might not be very professional but the coffee is great, certainly for a location like this. And it’s the only place easy to have a meeting this close to the A2

I find it hard to rate Doppio after my experience yesterday.
I loved the coffee, I loved the food, le boyfriend loved his smoothie. So that was all great, our server was also friendly but reminded me of a puppy sometimes. He had these moments that he seemed too afraid to approach people. But still, with all of this I would have given Doppio at least 3.5 stars and our server a tip.
Where it all went downhill is when we finished our food. He took away our plates, but we were still drinking so he left our glasses. Not long after this we finished our drinks and about ten (!) minutes later he finally came outside again to pick up all the glasses from the empty tables but completely ignoring us. Now, I’m a stubborn client as I believe in servers doing their best to make guests comfortable. That’s the work ethic I have anyway. So, with me being too stubborn to go inside and order the second round of drinks that we actually wanted, we ended up wasting over thirty-​five minutes of our lives waiting for a server to come outside again and ask us if we would like to order something else or get our bill. All four (!) people on staff were just inside, cleaning up and occasionally throwing a glance outside without actually ever doing anything. Now these are to of my pet peeves in the hospitality industry: not paying REAL attention to your guests and cleaning up when you’re still open for business. Both things that these twats did.
So, the food and drinks are probably four star for me, but the ignorant staff makes me give this place just the one star. I’ll be back on a day when these twats aren’t working.

A lovely café in an otherwise commercial atmosphere, but hard to beat when it is the only place around that you can go for prepared coffee.
Sandwiches and salads prepared with care and killer pastries. Outdoor terrace makes for a nice respite from the rush.
Coffee could be better but I’m a snob that way.
