Spam Vintage Design

The Neighbourhood of Oude Noorden is such a great and exciting place to be. That’s because of all the improvements and cool shops. One of those cool shops is SPAM. A retro design shop with the coolest stuff. A lot of eighties and seventies items, and a few sixties and fifties gems. You can wonder around here for an hour or more. There is just too much to look at!
Chairs, clothes, badges, records, shoes, lamps, fridge magnets, and so on and so on… The list is endless!!! Every item as cool and special as the next one. No mass production here! It’s trendy retro timetravelling through history. I found cool fridge magnets by The Who and The Sex Pistols. Also found a Michael Jackson doll with music in it.
The owner scouts around dusty lofts, dark basements and retro markets to find these gems. Some donate or sells stuff to him. They know how to find him. And he knows how to pick out the good stuff. He can also tell you a lot about each and every item. The owner is one of the nicest guys you’ll meet. SPAM is not actually a shop, it’s more like a livingroom or a chill lounge. People feel way too comfortable here. By the time you leave more time has past then you’ve realised.
You can always play a record to try it (yes I’m talking vinyl, how retro!) Try the chairs or ransack the clothes rack. It’s a touchy feely shop, no hold bars. You can al aso try out a special deck of cards. The owner can tell you the whole history behind it. There’s always a record playing in the shop for atmosphere. From reagge and ska to country to eighties pop. Some items will be strange, new and exciting, some will make you fantasize about the time your parents where young and others will send you right off to memory lane. For something nice, a travel through time or a pshycadelic trip without drugs (hahaha, made a funny) visit SPAM for once. I’ll bet you’ll be back soon!
