Asian Glories

One star for feeling hugely disappointed and cheated by tMichelin; two stars for very friendly staff and flexibility to cook something special for me — Mapo Tofu. Em, let’s start from the initial feeling entering the restaurant, heavy smell of oil made it cheap atmosphere, but I said to myself to wait for the food. Horrible wine list and obviously a ‘China town’ level restaurant, but the interior are nice :) non of the menu items attracts a real Chinese, I ordered chicken in shacha source, Mapo tofu and erg fried rice. Plain rice also came as free, what a nice surprise! I really appreciate the offer to cook anything I want as a Chinese, but I have to say the Mapo tofu has nothing about Mapo tofu, even I cook better. Shacha chicken was literally tasting like chicken fry with shacha source from the supermarket, very very very normal. We also order desert ‘osmanthus flower cake with lychee ice cream’, that was special — I mean the lychee ice cream. the home-​made osmanthus flower cake was too disappointing! Well, what worst is that Michellin gave this restaurant ‘recommended’ from 2007 – 2014. I am so disappointed by Michellin’s standard and just wonder if there’s any proper Chinese restaurant in Rotterdam?!

Disappointing, sad and hopefully no future ahead.
For a 37 € p/​p surprise menu (4 courses) you may get 1 chicken breast soaked in oil, 2 dim sum and 2 fried undescribed items, 2 small pancakes with 2 slices of duck skin and for main course stir fried meat, a few shrimps and a few vegetables. On the top of this uncreative cuisine, all the service took ages. If you are hungry you won’t leave the place satiated but angry!
Any banal Chinese would do a better service than Asian (in)Glories. Darwin theory will apply to this restaurant.
