Jazz bars are scarce in Leiden, but you really only need one with a place like De Twee Spieghels. It’s a great place to sit down for some easy conversation, especially when drinking one of their many great wines.
Don’t feel like wine? Then try the beer that was brewed specifically for this bar: Spieghelsbier, which is a pleasantly different witbier. And of course De Twee Spieghels wouldn’t be a Jazz bar without regular jam sessions and performances. They’re definitely worth a visit, but the music sometimes has the tendency to drown out all possibility for conversation. Honestly though, that’s only a minor flaw for this otherwise great bar; we’re fans!

Great wine, great people, great service. The only problem is, this place gets CROWDED. Like any other place in central Leiden and then some.
Also they have live jazz nights often. This is considered a good thing by many people but personally I dislike most jazz so I didn’t find it enjoyable when I got caught at them…
But for the rest this place is wonderful. Go here if you’re in the center and looking for a place to have a delicious glass of something :)
