Viqh, Viqh, Viqh… Haarlem does desperately need you because modern, swanky wine bars are in short supply here — and that is what you’re trying to be. But, why does it all have to be so cheesy and overpriced? People who spend time at Viqh seem more than happy to cuddle up with 50 strangers in a closet to drink a € 13 glass of ‘eh’ wine and sit on cheap fabrics… but I, I would rather buy the € 7 train ticket to Amsterdam and go to a much more elegant and quiet space to enjoy a much better glass of wine. I’m not saying that there’s no reason to go to Viqh, because when you’re in Haarlem and you don’t want to grab a Heini in a brown bar(tee hee), this is one of the few places in Haarlem to go. But it’s struggling to live up to its hype in my eyes.

A cool place to go as an alternative to drinking beer. I am normally a beer person, but this place is nice every once in a while. They are usually pretty crowded but I think it makes for a «gezellig» atmosphere. Their wine list is organized by country and mostly everything I’ve had there is good. I would recommend doing the wine tasting. There are different price levels that you can pick starting at only € 5,50. You get 3 small glasses of wine(white or red, your choice) and then when they bring the wine over they explain all about the three different ones that you picked.

Nice comfortable atmosphere. very knowledgeable staff. Excellent variety of wines. Tasty breadsticks and our tapas plate was perfect with our wine. We’ll be back.
