Say Cheeese, say Gouda.
The Goudse Waag is a historic building, built in 1668. Gouda cheeses used to be weighed here. Now it’s the cheese and artisanal crafts museum, where you can find out about the history of the Goudse Waag and the products that used to be weighed and traded here. Besides the museum there is a shop where the company UnieKaas sells and promotes its products.

learn about cheese: buy cheese!
there’s a video about cheese & how it’s made. (and it’s actually interesting!)
you can buy all different kinds of gouda cheese, cheese products & cheese tools.
there’s also a demonstration on pipe making. (apparently it was a huge gouda export.)
everything is extremely interesting. REALLY.
also, the whole place is run by volunteers which means this for you: they’re all happy!
they all have a vast knowledge of cheese, gouda, pipes, history & the like.
it makes for a great experience.
p. s. i learned how cheese was discovered — amazing! i won’t give it away, i’ll let you ask them & find out for yourself while you stand in the great center of all things cheese!
