Wax Well is a must visit for vinyl freaks. Despite a recent move to a less attractive premises due to the foundations failing in their previous establishment two doors down, the Wax Well vibe remains. They’ve always been a hip-hop/soul«specialist» but their jazz selection deserves more recognition too. Some very unusual titles, the kind of thing you don’t see everywhere. Their rock section isn’t the best but its up against tough competition in town from places like Record Friend and Concerto so you can’t hold that against them. They seem to buy a great deal from the United States as there’s more US printings than you generally see in a European store which — if you’re a total loser like me that cares about where a record is printed — is a huge plus. They don’t have the most stock, but it’s telling that I can drop € 100+ here easily in just under 5 minutes. Elsewhere in town I struggle to hit € 50, and that’s not because the prices aren’t fair. They just only stock the best. A must visit.

If there is a vinyl shop to do in Amsterdam, Waxell Records is the one ! Huge selection of music ranging from rock to jazz or even blues and film music . The bins are very tidy and make it easy to find your needs. The manager also has all the available stock in his computer so do not hesitate to ask for some clarification on the what you look ;) Current prices are quite reasonable unlike other shops not far away. Located in the Negen straatjes, Waxwell Records is the staple of this city :)

Waxwell is amazing. I went there in May 2011 and I fell in love with the place. So much records: It’s heaven for music lovers!
