Very nice place with flexible hours. When I just moved here my washing machine wasn’t operational yet and did my washing here. Reasonable pricing(5, — per load and 0,50 for using the dry washer on a 8 min tumble). Still come here when I need to use the dryer to get my duvets all fluffy again. Opening hours are till 19:00. Don’t push your luck, but often they’re open after seven. It’s been advised you bring your own soap as the soapmachine isn’t always filled/working. There are several grocery stores(Albert Heijn) within walking distance. One of them is at Vijzelgracht/Vijzstraat on the corner with Kerkstraat. The other one at the end of Utrechtsestraat(when you walk in the opposite direction of the city center). The staff is friendly and always willing to help out. Note that the staff isn’t in 24/7, but walks in every now and than to run the loads of customers who let the store do their laundry(there is a small extra fee involved if you let the store do your laundry). I never needed to wait for a free spot to do my laundry, so that’s an extra plus for me.

This is a nice, well kept place to do your laundry. They seem to have a pretty regular influx of customers. The person I spoke with was very nice and showed me exactly how to work everything. Totally beats the highway-robbery prices for laundry at a hotel – for the price a hotel charges for a pair of pants, you get a whole load done. There are two options: The first is to do it yourself. The washers use tokens, which you buy for € 5.00 from the vending machines. The dryers use € 1.00 coins. There are directions in English and Dutch up on the wall behind the washers. There is an Albert Heijn store on Frederiksplein 1 a few blocks away if the dispenser for soap is broken. The second is to let the owners do it. They come in and out of the shop on a regular basis to check on the progress of the loads, so wait until one of them shows up, tell them what you would like to have done, and give them money. They use the same machines that their customers use, sort by color, and provide soap, fabric softener, etc. They will also use your soap or fabric softener if you require scent-free stuff, etc.

All self service, and the change machine wasn’t working, so bring plenty of € 1 coins! Their washing powder dispenser wasn’t working when we went there so bring your own if possible. Washing machines are quite small so you might need a few but the dryers are a good size.

What a fabulous find. We are midway through our 2+ week trip and needed to do some laundry. We scouted it out and even though it was past closing. When we found it the nice woman inside let us in and explained the machines to us. But, then she mentioned that people can drop their laundry off at 6pm and pick it up at 9 pm and she will do it for you for only € 8.50 per load. Sold! We did just that. We came back at 9pm and she was folding the laundry! She had sorted by color to wash and she was sorting by size to fold! She used 3 washers so our total was € 25.50. Needless to say we gave her a bit more than that. We couldn’t be happier!

This wasserette looks cleaner than most, usually has very helpful staff, and it’s on a great neighbourhood, so go on ahead and take that cappuccino on the nearby brown cafés while your clothes get sparkly clean and dry. As far as the self-service goes, it’s 5 € per wash and 50¢ to dry(excluding detergents). You can also leave the clothes here and everything will be taken care of for you(for a fee, this ain’t no charity) ;)
