It’s a decent place to have brunch, attention has been paid to the making of food. The service is slow though, don’t know if it’s one time thing or regularly slow. Woody burger we had could be a bit greasy. We find it a. bit expensive for what it offers

Great place to have some quick bites, G&T’s and do some people watching while you’ll at it. Didn’t have the food here(only some small snacks which were great), but will definetely be back to give it another go.

This place looks decent from the outside but once you get in the staff is extremely rude and pretentious. They cater to locals and are rude to people from outside the neighborhood in my estimation. I was going to order but the Staff said they were too busy to talk to me with less than 10 people in the restaurant. The menu was the usual selection you would find at any run of the mill bar with a veneer of trendiness. The prices are also too high for the neighborhood and boring fare. Also, I recommend watch you stuff in the neighborhood, very sketchy area.

Went there on a Friday, it was a bit crowded, but in a pleasant way. Still, the staff found us a spot at the window. There were people sitting outside, so it was like sharing a table with a big piece of glass between us and the other guests who were oddly enough still wearing their jackets. Kind of funny. The both of us ordered a Bloody Mary, which according to my company, lacked some lime. I like it that way. A little too much lime can turn a BM into a red soapy tasting liquid. Great punch from the Tabasco as well. I had a chicken sate. The chicken was amazing. Tender on the inside and a bit crispy on the outside. It’s a pretty standard dish, which you can mess up pretty easy by preparing it with a lack of respect. At Walter’s it is handled with care. Nice. The sauce was a bit too salty for my taste, but the sweet and sour salad on the side almost made up for that. The fries were sliced very thin. Like that. They came with a creamy but slightly sour mayonnaise. Again: nice. I’m not very familiar with Amsterdam Oost, but Walter’s seems like a great place to go when you live in the neighborhood. Need to catch up with a good friend you haven’t seen in ages while enjoying a good meal and a wide variety of cocktails? Go here.

I’ve been here three times and I was treated excellent just twice. First time I had THE burger and it was brutally delicious. I strongly recommend going for this one if you like a big meaty dinner. The meat is glazed with Jack Daniel’s bourbon BBQ sauce which makes this, a perfect, smoked, sweet treat. Second time I was there I ordered a steak, medium rare. It was juicy and delicious. It came with some Chimichurri which sadly, was terrible. No taste at all. Third time we went for lunch… Probably the slowest service I have experienced in years. Food was still awesome but extremely slow, it took them 15 minutes to bring me an orange juice and a tea for my girlfriend and the place was empty. By the time those came, we already had finished our food. They serve fries with almost everything, which is awesome and they got amazing beers van de tap! I recommend«Two Chefs» So overall, I love this place! I took away one star because of the slow service during lunch. Definitely one of the new«hotspots» in already upcoming Oost.

«What’s in a name»… I have to admit, I’m kinda like a fan. I’m liking this place… a lot. Despite all it’s hipsterness. And despite it’s name. Yes, it’s name. Somehow, I have something against the name Walter. Have had some bad experiences with a Walter. Well actually, his name was Wouter. Actually, Wouter wasn’t even his real name. It was his second name. Come to think of it, I have no reason not to like Walter… Anyways, they seem to like their roasted root vegetables over here. You get them in your salad, with your fish & chips. I don’t mind, I like that! Not complaining, anything better than boring lettuce or the ever so popular rocket leaves, but maybe a little bit more creativity wouldn’t hurt. Actually(okay, need to stop watching«The Actually Kid»), scrap that, roasted root veggies is fine! P. S. but for the love of parsnip, business owners, please stop naming restaurants after guys!

Aug 2014: First time here. Stopped in for lunch mid Monday. Ordered falafel salad, soy latte. Enjoyed the latte; salad was good but small portion, small quantity of veggies. Salad seemed overpriced at € 7. I like the outdoor picnic benches-get to people watch and enjoy fresh air. Inside is a different vibe — more hip, dimmed lights — seems great also. Waitress was friendly; service slow but perhaps this is Dutch culture? 3 stars because it’s pricey.

Lekker. I like Walter’s on first impression. The food is super tasty, fresh and presented well. The service is great! Attentive, friendly, beautiful staff. The décor is funky and clean and fun. I definitely want to try this spot out again. Good outdoor seating — plenty of space inside. The guys had steak and they all loved it. I had a yummy falafel salad and fries and corn on the cob.(Oink) All were super good.

This place looks absolutely amazing. I was looking forward to the opening of this place for months and when I heard they had opened I went there as soon as possible. The place looks great. The interior design is amazing and beautiful. They did a great job. You can go to Walter for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks, everything is possible. We went here for a late lunch(you can order lunch till 18h) and I tried a sandwich with a bean ricotta salad, which was delicious. The menu is inspired by all the cultures and flavors you find in the Javastraat, where Walter’s is located. The drinks menu is very nice. They have a wide selection of beers on tap and on bottle. there is also a special gin&tonic cart, with many different g&t’s. I tried a cranberry one and it was very good. I love this place so much! I really looking forward to having dinner&drinks here sometime soon. It is such a great place in which every detail is thought through. Love it!
