I shared the whole piri-piri chicken, a salad and frites. We were warned by the very friendly proprietor that the piri-piri was spicy, but it’s only the sauce in the bottom of the tray that is spicy, so don’t let it scare you off. The crispy grilled skin on the chicken was delicious. The salad was fresh and good. The frites were cut a little like potato chips but they were really good, especially dipped generously in the flavored aioli provided. I’m not sure what would make this a 5-star place for me. Maybe after I go back a few times I will update my review, because I will probably go back.

Just wanted to let you know: the orange flavor is not good. But peri peri and lemon and garlic still kick butt. They have started doing delivery which means they are very, very busy, but on the plus side the delivery arrives quickly and is equally delicious, with the exception of the fries which arrive a little soggy. Stick with the rosemary potatoes and you’ll be good. They’ve also added grilled veggies now which are very good.

This place was amazing. I’m not sure how I discovered it online, but I did. Then I discovered it was on the main street I used to walk to my AirBnB arrangement. Then I read that it was run by a Portuguese person. Sold! We ordered a half chicken with garlic, chips, and pastel de nata. Everything was amazing. It was some of the best chicken that I’ve ever eaten and we really enjoyed the garlic. And the chips were phenomenal. And, of course, if they’re offering pastel de nata, you must eat some. You simply must go here.

Awesome fall off the bone chicken. I had the garlic lemon and it was a near perfect chicken eatin experience. Mixed Roasted vegetables were piping hot and very fresh. I was expecting more from the rice. Probably should have gotten the fries. Service friendly. Mostly a take out.

Great place, the price is really fair, and the staff is nice. I felt very welcome eating at the restaurant. The chicken was tasty, and so was the salad. Next time I will have to try to potatoes.

Get ready to eat with your hands and enjoy great chicken in this small and cosy place. The piri piri chicken is the best chicken I’ve had. Accompanied by fresh homemade fries and tasteful vegetables this was a perfect dinner on our first night in Amsterdam. I hope I get the opportunity to come again!

I spotted this little shop before my little sister came to visit all the way from Sydney and I have to say, I’m glad I waited to visit with her! Especially since we both agree, it’s as good as what you could get in Lisbon! The chicken here, with the piri-piri chili oil is wonderful! Greasy as all get out(the good kind) with the skin a little crisp– was wonderfully moist and flavoursome! We also tried the garlic and honey glaze but the piri-piri wins hands down. There’s one more flavour they glaze the chicken with, so I’ll need to do more research(read: stuff my face) next time! As a side, we had fresh salad and amazingly crisp frites that came with a herbed mayonnaise, also, all amazing. And of course to finish, pastel de natas! They were possibly the best tarts I’ve had outside of Lisbon too, to boot. All in all, I don’t think you can go wrong with a meal here! Definitely worth a moment if you’re in the neighbourhood!

Fabulous food complimented by succulent tasty food. The basic menu is simple, but it is done so well. The chicken is juicy and crisp, and the sides perfect. Try the Peri Peri chicken, with the Frita’s and the Peppers. So glad this is around the corner from my home :-)

I am a sucker for the Portuguese language. The sound of it reminds me of fun, sun and the wonderful grilled chicken I had in Tavira, a village near Faro. At The Good Chicken Society the grilled chicken is made the same way: butterflied. To butterfly a chicken the cook has to remove the chicken’s backbone so he can open the bird like a butterfly and lay it flat. This technique results in a chicken that’s grilled more evenly and contains less fat: by ‘opening’ the chicken the fat drips out of it. The free-range chicken of ‘my’ Amsterdam place has juicy meat and a super crusty skin. This baby is available in three flavours: garlic-lemon, natural with sea salt and — my favourite — piri piri(a bit spicy). To be eaten on the spot or at home, with French fries or a salad. Always served with a smile. The Dutch-Portuguese couple that run the place love to tell you how the chicken is prepared and rave about the taste. The ultra friendly Peruvian lady who served me this week was just as passionate about the quality. And so are the Dutch and many Portuguese clients: ‘Maravilhosa.’

Ok, this is a neighborhood best kept secret and I eat here almost every 2 weeks. The Portuguese owner is very friendly and accommodating and most of their food is sourced locally and is organic, including their mouth watering chicken. This is chicken at it’s finest. Far better than just«good». Their prices are very reasonable for the high quality of food. I love how she makes Portuguese vegetable side dishes. They change daily and I was lucky that I got to try her fava beans. Yummy!

Found this restaurant in the local neighbourhood and it looked homey and inviting. We went for dinner and had half a chicken with chips and salad. The peri peri chicken was spicy but you can also choose the natural(non spicy) option. You must try the chips, I couldn’t get enough if them! Everything is homemade and the two lovely ladies running it are really nice and speak Spanish and English too.
