This place is very pretty. We only came in to order Hot Mint Tea and use the toilet. The servers were very attentive and very polite. The bathrooms are very clean and well maintained. To flush the toilet, you have to pull a chain from overhead. It was very retro.

The Dylan is an extraordinary hotel is a great, central and walkable canal area in Amsterdam. The rooms and restaurants are 5-star. Service is exceptional right from registration on … you are likely to see a few celebrities in the bar and restaurants as well. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Amsterdam!

We recently spent a week of vacation at the Dylan in mid October. We chose the hotel due to its location in the canal ring and proximity to many local sights. This boutique hotel was very charming and staff were friendly and very eager to assist us with anything that we needed. Although we didn’t realize it when we booked the hotel the area was just perfect for our needs. Really pretty canal area, lots of shopping and restaurants nearby and within walking distance to the many museums in the area. It is also in walking distance to the central area, but it is in a much quieter area, which suited us well. We especially enjoyed some of the extra touches such as fresh flowers and fruit in the room and our daily treat with turn down service. Pleasant and cozy bar/lounge area where we enjoyed some tasty bar snacks and cocktails.

An incredible hotel — elegant and upscale but not pretentious, with astonishingly helpful and courteous employees. Pricey, yes, but worth the expense.

If you want to stay in a luxury, designer, boutique hotel, The Dylan might suit you. The front desk was a little stressed when we were there, but the concierge, Michael Wigman was MOST helpful. He was great for restaurant recommendations and reservations, coffee shop info, as well as nightlife… The BAR is fabulous at the hotel, the room with the fireplace. Luscious wood carving, supple leather seating, rich tones of gold and honey. The drinks were great, as was the caviar we had. The Michelin Star Restaurant Vinkeles is a favorite of mine in Amsterdam, so it’s great it’s at the hotel. The location couldn’t be better, Set within the«grachtengordel», the city’s central canal-belt, as well as in Amsterdam’s chic shopping district, «The Nine Streets»(«De Negen straatjes»), The Dylan Hotel Amsterdam provides the ideal base for your stay in Amsterdam.

We have been having«high wine» there with some friends. You pay 40 Eu per person and you get 4 wines accompanied with 4 small dishes of french high cuisine. Dishes were really creative and the wines were fantastic, perfectly matched. The atmosphere was very warm and relax, place is really cosy and the staff very friendly and helpful. It was a great food and wine tasting plan for a saturday afternoon.

Review for the bar specifically — honestly, wasn’t wild about the drink options OR the service, but still the cutest and coziest spot for a nice ambiance and glass of wine(or bizarre cocktail, the options weren’t really too appealing). A cute fire piece to add to the ambiance, and a great neighborhood where you aren’t mowed over by bicycles and puff coats(well, as much) — would def stay here next trip to Amsterdam, and recommend the bar for ambiance alone!

What a beautiful and charming hidden paradise! Amazing rooms, décor, comfort, food and service. Rooms have everything you can possibly need and then some. Hotel is centrally located and is on the canal. In here, it’s all about the details. I have stayed at many different hotels in Amsterdam but this one is by far the best, much better than the Pulitzer which is around the corner. We highly recommend it!

The Dylan is a great place to stay when in Amsterdam. I was in one of the Loft Suites and it was absolutely gorgeous. I really enjoyed the architecture of the room, being at the very top floor with the exposed wood beams. The room allowed for lots of natural light. My only complaint was that there wasn’t much light in the bathroom area where I would get ready. However, they did have a lighted magnified mirror which was helpful. The bed was extremely comfortable with the pillow top for my mattress that I had requested in advance. They were happy to oblige me. The hotel also provided me with converters for electricity since I had forgotten mine. Excellent service! The Dylan is in a central location and I found it to be conveniently close to all of the places I wanted to sightsee at. I rented a bike and cruised around the city as if I were right at home being completely immersed in the Dutch culture. The hotel has a private boat canal tour available. The captain/tour guide was extremely nice and informative. Overall, it was a treat to stay at The Dylan. They definitely rolled out the red carpet for me. I’d be happy to visit there again and recommend it to my fellow Unilocalers.

I work full-time. research, save my money, travel and hope to have what will be an exceptional experience and adventure. In most cases it is… thus I feel compelled to share online. The Dylan is ONE of those amazing experiences. To be straight forward, it made me feel like a ROCKSTAR. First, I have never walked into a hotel where I felt that every aspect has been exceptionally planned and artistically placed. On top of that, they are playing groovy music that just makes one want to «love the one you’re with!» I have stayed at the Dylan 3 times. Each time, I have had a different room and each time the room has been unbelievably different. I am not talking the bathroom is on the left. I am talking one room was black with mirrors strategically placed around the room and the other was white, like I was in heaven. If you are a bit avant-garde when it comes to art; you like adventure, then you will be very surprised and forever love the Dylan. 100% recommend it!!!

A beautiful boutique hotel a block away from the Pulitzer. Service was spectacular and the room was beautiful. I walked in off the street to see if they had a room for the following weekend and they bent over backwards to find me one. There was a convention in town and they were hosting one of the functions and yet they found me a room and made my stay wonderful. I can highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed at the Dylan last summer in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, so much in fact that we are staying there again this coming July when we return to Amsterdam. The location of this hotel is awesome, shopping, museums, restaurants, café’s, bars, clubs all located within walking distance of the Dylan. Its a small boutique hotel that has so much charm and character, the staff all very friendly and helpful and although the rooms were a tad small they were very well kept and modern. I love that you get a fresh jug of water delivered to your room every morning, trust me after a long night of drinking it was very very necessary lol. I am looking forward to returning in a few months.

Stayed at the Dylan a few years ago while visiting Amsterdam for another weekend with my husband. Everything about the Dylan is high-end and they look after the finest details. The things that stand out about The Dylan are the common areas and the service. The restaurant Vinkeles was awarded a Michelin Star in November 2009 and is well worth the visit. While we didn’t stay there this visit, we did have«High Wine»(the better version of High Tea) this evening. The High Wine service consists of four wine pairings with amuse bouches style bites. Today’s menu consisted of a New Zealand Marlborough White served with a shrimp salad. The wine was exceptionally bright and paired well with the shrimp(which wasn’t spectacular, but good). The second course consisted of a Chardonay paired with pastrami topped with chinese noodle and a tangy sauce(quite enjoyable), the third course was the heaviest and consisted of duck breast covered with a light veal sauce and accompanied by artistically arranged green beans and small potatoes. The red wine was Spanish and by far, the best. Finally we ended with a sweet wine and a dish of strawberries covered in a Prosecco syrup and almond biscuits. While we were enjoying our menu, our neighbors at the next table ordered a dessert which included Macarrons and four small shots of various flavored ice creams. We couldn’t NOT order it. It did not disappoint. My mouth was pleased. As usual the service was impeccable. As for the rooms… they’re okay. They’re much nicer than what you would typically find in a higher end hotel, but certainly not as nice as they could be for 550 Euro+/night. Another thing I really like about the Dylan is that they have bikes to lend. One thing you should never do is visit Amsterdam and not ride a bike. It is the only way to get around this beautiful city. My husband calls The Dylan an oasis of calm.

Excellent service, clean room, and very helpful staff. A big downside was that they hadn’t turn the AC on yet, and it was quite warm in up in the«loft» area of the room where the bed was. So warm, in fact, that we had to call concierge at 4AM and have them bring in emergency fans for us to use. But they did, and with a smile. Also, I wasn’t thrilled with the bedroom and bathroom being on different levels, especially given the very narrow staircase you had to traverse to go up and down. That said, a little more research on my part and we could have had a one-level room. The hotel is in a great area, and we were able to walk to just about everything. Not a cheap stay, but if you don’t have an inside recommendation and want to be sure you don’t end up on a lumpy mattress in a dump of a hotel, the Dylan won’t disappoint.

this boutique hotel is absolutely top drawer. set along the 17th century Keizersgracht canal in the chic 9 Straatjes(streets) district studded with cafés, galleries, shops and minutes to Amsterdam’s must-sees. from the sleek rooms, breakfasts at the Bakery, lounging with the locals in the Long Gallery… really just the perfect base from which to explore. tip: go during low season sept-nov. best bang for buck. and less crowds.

Beautiful — the sort of hotel where you have to force yourself to leave the room and explore the city. Opulent and luxurious rooms, superb service, a decent(asian fusion, from memory) restaurant and they’ll lend you a bicycle. Highly recommended, so long as you can afford it

Amsterdam is gorgeous all by itself, but staying in a posh hotel certainly helps. The Dylan is beautiful — refined, elegant, but really friendly. I stayed for two nights and never wanted to leave. It’s an old building, a restored theater [I think] and the rooms are all designed differently and carefully. Our room overlooked the courtyard. We slept like babies in the big beds and gorgeous sheets, and washed up with the yummy Molton Brown toiletries. Oh, and did I tell you, we got the most awesome room service breakfast ever? Not the cheapest hotel but so worth it.
