I’m reviewing this bar based on the burger. The place has a nice address and outdoor seating right by Rembrandtsplein, and maybe it’s a good place to grab a beer — but don’t go here for the burger!
The burger looks suitably greasy and rich, but the meat is cooked all the way through until the point that it has lost all its flavor. A cardinal sin in the burger making world — I sentence this place to eternity in the lake of fire.
Also, there’s pickled cucumber AND regular cucumber — what’s up with that?! The regular cucumber is sliced in a fancy way but that doesn’t justify its existence one built.
If you’re looking for a burger, go to «Burger Bar» around the corner instead.

I ordered the wrong thing: fish and chips. It was over battered AND have no flavor. The tartar sauce was the lifesaver, but not enough to make it worth 19 euros. Oy. The salad looked and tasted like it had been pre-​scooped onto the plate then chilled in the fridge until the customer orders to fill the rest of the plate with hot food: fish and fries. I give this place two stars because my husband enjoyed his salmon steak, but I (nor he!) could eat the fish and chips that I ordered.

A hot spot on Saturday night. Despite the full tables and standing crowd, service is fast and good. It is definitely a pub feel with small tables and lots of «standing» areas, but the patio is big and heated. They also have screens to catch the latest Ajax game while you enjoy a pint.

We stopped in for breakfast at around 10 am on a sunday morning as this was the only place that was open on the rembrantplein. I am glad we did. 2 of us opted for the full irish breakfast which at around 13 € was not that cheap, but you did get really big portions and included all the things would would expect from an irish breakfast. The bar staff were really friendly and the service was quick. A minus point goes to the toilets that were in a pretty smelly state.

It’s a pub on a street side terrace. The advantage to this, besides people watching, is that many local kids will come and perform for a handout right in front of your table. That is one thing Amsterdam has going for it — lots of talent all looking for some of your tourist dollars. I don’t mind this but some are more talented than others. The food is not anything real special, but when you’re hungry this will do. The Salmon sandwich was good, but their beers were better.

My son was craving fish and chips so we looked on Unilocal!
Arrived 8pm on Friday eve to crowded touristy Rembrandt Square but was quickly seated. We chose to sit inside the wood paneled cozy pub to avoid the smokers, but most folks were enjoying the patio overlooking Rembrandt Square.
Our Guiness pints were splendid, just perfect, really. (I am not a fan of the typical Dutch pilsners.) The beer battered fish and chips was great (and SUPER hot! careful!), i had the fried fish sandwich (good but needed salt – seems like most Dutch laces undersalt, which is FINE with me, I’d rather add my own than it be over salted), My husband had a veggie burger which was average, and my daughter enjoyed a typical Dutch goat cheese salad which has very fresh lovely mixed greens. We were too full to try dessert.
The waiters were super cute, super friendly, and very attentive. One even called me «Love,» which I admit made my heart flutter a bit. Or maybe it was the large beer’s fault. LOL They also put Le Tour de France on the big screen TVs for us (it was boring golf before – who watches golf on TV?)
Overall, a very nice surprise! Pleasant food, atmosphere, service. I’d recommend it!

I like this place — the staff is always very friendly and attentive– I usually bring my dog along and they are always petting her and bringing her water… the pub food is great (I usually have bangers & mash) and they have lots of good beer and drinks (even the coffee is good!)– if you like UK football, they often have a match showing on the big TV screen as well…

Was zeichnet diesen Pub aus? Zum einen die vielen TV-​Geräte und der Biergarten in schöner Laden. Leider ist der Service unaufmerksam und die Preise von einem anderen Stern. Ich habe kein Problem für gute leistung ein paar Euro mehr zu zahlen. Aber hier stimmt das Preis/​Leistungsverhältnis nicht

Einer weiter Irish Pubs an der Rembrandtplein. Unterschied zu den anderen: Aufmerksames, sehr freundliches Personal, gute Küche und sehr nette Gäste. Man kommt schnell mit anderen Gästen ins Gespräch. Lediglich die Preise waren etwas zu hoch im vergleich zu den anderen Pubs.

Dont get me wrong, i like this place. But then when you compare this bar to all the other bars and even irish bars in amsterdam, I have to give it 3 stars only. The location is super touristy but i go here as its close to pathe and its good to get a couple of beers before/​after a movie. We tried the wings and fish and chips and it was decent and the beer was good.
Well, Nothing spectacular or much to write about.

When you are wondering around Rembrandtplein, you gotta stop and gas up at the St. James Gate Pub.
1. Location — can’t beat it. If it is nice, sit outside, if you smoke, there is a smoking lounge inside and of course, there is outside.
2. Food — Wow, if you like English Pub food like their Lamb Curry, or the Irish Stew, then you are good to go. I love the food here.
3. Drinks — A ton. Guiness on tap. Can’t beat it.
4. Service — Everyone here is absolutely great!!!
5. Price — Huh? Not an issue.
This is a fun place to hang out.

Typischer Laden für Touristen. Auf den Tischen liegen nur englische Karten, wir werden vom Service direkt auf englisch angesprochen.
Das Essen ist nichts Besonderes, der Preis leider schon. Die Preise sind viel zu hoch, da gibt es in der Umgebung bessere Läden.
Allerdings gab es ein Highlight: Der Brownie war genial und deswegen gibt es dann auch zwei Sterne.
