An excellent meal paired with outstanding wines. Hans and augur were both very kind and knowledgeable. The service and atmosphere were also outstanding. Will definitely return and I highly recommend it if you want a special dining experience.

Definitely the best restaurant I’ve ever visited, and most expensive too. I will visit them again if I ever visit Amsterdam again. Atmosphere was really kind and relaxed. When you make a reservation, you can only choose how many courses you’ll take and do you want very good wines or top level wines. Visiting this restaurant is an experience, so I recommend to choose all five courses. I still regret I chose only four courses with only very good wines. All courses are presented by the chef and all wines by the sommellier. There were one of the best food I’ve ever eaten, wines choices were excellent and very interresting, and the combination of those two were perfect.

This is the kind of restaurant you go to when you have something really, special to celebrate. As Marisa said in her review, it really is an experience. The restaurant is romantic, dim, and the food is just out of this world. We had 3 courses with premium wine, and it was excellent. The sommelier is amazingly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about wine. We eat out a lot, and this was the best meal we have eaten here. I just hope that my husband does not make me wait until NEXT Valentine’s day to eat here again!

Restaurant Utrechtsedwarstafel is an experience, and an extraordinary one at that. Hans, the sommelier, does an excellent job pairing the wines with the meal and we are talking 6-star cuisine here. I was a little apprehensive given the significant restrictions I gave them(yes, I’m a picky eater), but it turned out fantastically. We opted for the 4 course, excellent level(you get to choose both the amount of courses — 3 to 5 — and the level of wine quality that you want). It’s worth noting that you make your reservation on their website, and then they’ll follow up with you to confirm. Our first course was a «salad», although calling it that doesn’t do it justice. Jerusalem artichoke cooked in truffle oil, some kind of beet root, a crispy wafer, a bit of frisee, topped with a perfectly prepared egg cooked in Danish cheese. The second course was chicken cooked in broth at a low temperature and seasoned with tarragon. This was served with lentils and the most delicious tempura mushrooms. The third course was the heartiest, and consisted of thinly sliced but juicy beef rib and shoulder cooked in red wine and served with perfectly seasoned stew veggies(carrots, potato, etc). Dessert was a mound of white chocolate meringue topped with blood oranges and white chocolate sauce and a scoop of watermelon sorbet with peppercorn that balanced the plate wonderfully. This was perhaps the best meal we’ve ever had anywhere, and having Igor, the chef, come out and explain each course and then Hans following up with why he’s chosen your specific wine is pretty damn awesome. Also, for a place that is serving such excellent cuisine, there is zero pretension or attitude happening here. If you are in Amsterdam and consider yourself a foodie, this is not to be missed!
