All I can say is — FANTASTIC! If you’ve ever been shopping in central Amsterdam you’ve surely been by Madchique’s mother store, Chimera, in my opinion the première fantasy shop in the world. Madchique has Chimera’s same taste for elegant and enchanting atmospherics, but don’t expect hobbits and goblins here. Madchique is a reimagining of Chimera’s Tolkienesque forest of wonders focused on women’s apparel — and what a selection! My girlfriend goes ape for the sort of 1950s steampunk apparel that Madchique is really the only place to go for that I know of in the Low Countries. Prices are reasonable, as they are for clothing at Chimera, and the staff is helpful. There’s often a pug there that gazes at you with his endearing eyes hopelessly buried within wrinkle after wrinkle collectively forming that characteristic pug water-​soaked prune face while you choose between silver and heels while maybe taking a dress as well. It’s not to miss!
