Fresh foods prepared perfectly. Different menus daily. We were told that after 20 years they are closing their doors. The chef has already opened a new restaurant«Citreon»(in an former garage) which is in South Amsterdam with the same orientation towards fresh daily produce and daily changing menus.

I can’t express what a tremendous meal I enjoyed at Lof. The brown sourdough bread was rich and full of flavor highlighted with rich homemade butter. My appetizer was the perfect portion of braised venison in a truffle cream sauce. Superb. Then, believe it or not, my fish entrée was better still. It was a brill I believe, pan seared on top of baby bok choy and rice. The sauce was a soy ginger sake lightly sweet compliment to the fresh fish. The staff was friendly and funny. If I could give them ten stars, I would. Recommend making reservations as they only have about 15 tables.

A stranger walking by gave us the nod and thumbs up so we walked in and took a peek. No menu posted as it changes based on availability. 3 course or 4 course meal is available, or if you want you can start with dessert as hidden in the back is an icecream studio. The waitress knew the current fare and homemade sourdough bread and butter was great as we tried to decide our choices. Everything we had was just perfect. From the starters of a smoked perch with seaweed and miso, paired with a barbecued pork belly bao with pickled radish and greens to the mains of miso Atlantic cod with Asian greens and roasted artichoke and porcini risotto finishing off with a wonderful Dutch yogurt curd called hangop and homemade raspberry rose and sea buckthorn ice cream it kept our palettes begging for more. If you make it to amsterdam find this place. 19 years of word of mouth advertising has kept people coming. But the food keeps them coming back.

Restaurant Lof, Haarlemmestraat 62. Been going to Lof for about 10 years and it never disappoints. In fact Lof was one of our favorite meals during our week in Europe. Three courses for 40 euros with a few choices for starters and mains. Very creative concepts, one starter was pork buns, with slices of pork belly, greens and hoisin sauce with a small bowl of hot sauce if you wanted to turn it up a bit. Mains were a perfectly cooked slab of brill which was superb and a super tender cut of beef medium rare and delicious. Service was very friendly and helpful, it was the Chef’s daughter taking care of the tables. We already look forward to coming back to Lof next year.

I have been here way too many times to not write a review. High time so here we go. I absolutely love this place. The food is always great — The menu gets updated frequently. And regardless of what the menu is — Its always new, innovative and definitely delicious. I dont think I have ever eaten anything here that I didnt enjoy. Sometimes I and my friends go here as frequently as possible so that we can enjoy the same dish before the menu changes. The ambience is plain, simple and very lovely. Good to make a reservation in advance but you maybe able to get a table for two without a reservation as well sometimes. The wine selection is great. The service and staff has«personality» which I love :) Its always lovely to chat with them. Would I go back — definitely. Would I recommend it — definitely. No fuu-fuu and no pretension. Just plain good food.

I had one night in Amsterdam and wanted to find a great restaurant so I reached out to a few people who had lived in Amsterdam and a friend I trust recommended Lof saying it had a great intimate atmosphere. It’s also in a cool area convenient to beautiful canal views and boutique shopping. I was on my own and the owners did a great job making me feel comfortable and getting me the table I wanted. The food was excellent. There is no menu, just several starters and entrees that they give you to choose from on a prix fix basis. Everything sounded tempting. I started with Norwegian oysters which were very fresh and served with just lemon — so good. For main course, lamb over couscous and eggplant with a very flavorful reduction sauce. You can tell they have regulars and the owners take huge pride in service and the food they create. Lof was the perfect choice for my one night in Amsterdam!
