Hummbar

Late night in Amsterdam and we were craving for hummer. Luckily we find this place. We came half an hour before the kitchen closed but this wasn’t a problem. We were almost the only one at the restaurant which was perfect!
We ordered a hummer soup and a hole hummer — half of it stemmed and the other half grilled. I prefer it stemmed!
All of it tasted great!
And the restaurant was very stylish!

Yeah, I am kind of an in-​betweener at this point. I went to the Hummbar last Monday with a friend for a really really early dinner. Which means: I will not judge about the place being empty. (Like me and my friend being outnumbered by the bar staff empty: D) Anyways.
Food:
The food was overall good. My friend had the lobster soup. You get a quite allright bisque (I am always picky on this one though) with one lobster claw.
I had the Amsterdam burger. It comes with fries; fried to my liking. And there is a lot of them. They also refill your fries in case you need more. Thus, no fries shortage in sight!
The burger patty was all right — not the best, not the worst. As I said, overall good, especially for the price.
Price:
Without going into the present-​day glorification of burgers at this point, I will just take it as it is. The place is by no means cheap. It is in the moderate range, I would say. I find it a pity that they do not offer the «lunch» size during dinner. Disregarding the meaning of the words, I think it would be good to offer a smaller version of the burger also during dinner hours. Indeed, more for the customer. But as they say — «customer is king» (and happy customer comes back is just an obvious thing). I had a rose, it was very acceptable one (again, picky with my rosés), as well as a Disaronno sour (very happy with that one).
Not sure, if I will come back soon, but I do not discard it as an option. I will probably pay it a visit more down the road, when they are more up and running.

Literally one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. Waitstaff is incompetent. Food took 1 hour 20 to arrive. The table behind us left without paying, probably because no one who works here was paying attention.

I’ve eaten at a lot of burger joints, and I definitely dined at quite a few restaurants in Amsterdam, and I can tell you for sure that this is the best burger place I’ve ever dined in. The food was amazing, and that’s definitely one of the many things that makes me miss Amsterdam. The service was particularly welcoming, reassuring and very friendly — definitely the best service I’ve had at any restaurant in any country I’ve visited. Best of all, the price is a steal, so you really have no excuse not to tip the waiters generously! There’s no doubt that I’m coming back here next time I’m in Amsterdam, even if it means coming on my own — totally worth it!

I loved the Amsterdam de lux burger. It’s a must have.

The place looks great, nice to sit inside. You can find a place even in the peak hours. They only sell lobsters and hamburgers. The Italian burger we ordered was slightly dry and overdone. The Easy lobster was a bit rubber like in texture, but the taste was okay. I could not eat the salad, it had no taste

I personally loved this place I found it on Unilocal and my love of lobster brought me here. It was absolutely beautiful the choice of grilled or steamed it was delightful and very tasty my boyfriend had a burger medium and that’s exactly how it came.
Staff were very friendly was given the choice to seat with the rowdy or privately which is what we chose.
Service was quick and staff very helpful regarding breaking up my lobster claws but we got it sorted ourself.

I like the concept of this place; it’s hard to go wrong with lobster and burgers of course. Overall the food was good and everything comes with a salad and fries. The portions are large and there are nice beers to choose from as well. The restaurant layout is big and spacious, not crowded at all. Plus: our server was extremely kind and attentive.

I am really surprised this place only has three stars, but I also only had the lobster which is pretty difficult to screw up. Overall though my boyfriend enjoyed his burger and I enjoyed my lobster and my drink as well!

They’ve been renovating the space where Hummbar sits for months now — so it was nice to finally see the interior space all done up.
The service was quick and friendly — I’m guessing because the whole place was pretty empty. It was nearing on American-​style over enthusiasm as 3 seperate waiters ask us if our meal was ok.
The «Amsterdam» burger was good was giant and good but maybe the bun could have been softer. And I have to say there are other, better choices close by. The lobster was fine and the price was fair. by again, nothing too special.
while the overall experience was ok, im not sure I’d go again. Wondering who their target market is?
