Wasn’t very pleased with my experience today. The waitstaff was not very attentive at any point during the stay; from wiping down the outdoor table to remembering the full order(edamame is always first, right?!), to supplying simple napkins. Big thumbs down for service. Sushi was just ok, particularly as they use imitation crab, and the tempura roll wasn’t the freshest. Helloooooo!!!

This was my first time eating sushi in Amsterdam and unfortunately it was the worst sushi I have ever had. We ordered the white box(17.5 euros pp) and it came with 2 maki rolls, 6 sushi, 6 sashimi, and 4 shrimp tempura. The maki were sloppy, falling apart, and the flavors were terrible(hoisin mixed with Chinese five spice!?) the sashimi was very poorly cut and far too thin, and the sushi also fell apart. The shrimp tempura were tiny and they didn’t use tempura batter, instead it was a thick heavy batter you would find on fried chicken. For that I found it over priced and the sushi lover in me can’t bare giving it another chance.

I had take-out sushi here once, and I’m afraid I probably won’t be coming back. I’m a huge sushi fan so I am picky about my sushi, sorry… On the positive side: the place is cute, service was efficient and nice. it’s nicely located on a very animated street, and there is a nice outside terrace. and it’s cheap! On the negative side: sushi was not very good. the fish was not tasty, the rice was not sticky enough and not flavored enough. I also had a salad which was ok, but had nothing Japanese in it(lettuce and other veggies with a white dressing close to a french sauce I would say). but for the price, I guess my expectations were too high.

Ambiance: nice. Service: Pretty nice. Sushi: lekker. Ramen: WAIT… did someone say RAMEN in Amsterdam? Hellz yellz! Tonight I had the avocado cashew roll.(If the moment you enter heaven has a taste… it’s the same taste as this roll… um, delicious) and the veggie ramen. BOTHTASTE’TACULAR! I’ll return. For shizzle.

I was not happy with my sushi here but I will give it another try again, because the customer service was so good. I thought the sushi roles were presented extremely sloppy. It look like a first timer rolled them. Japan would fall out if they saw how my sushi was rolled. I will stop in a second time just to give them a second try again. The ambiance inside looked really nice despite the questionable sushi.

Great sushi for a great price. After walking/cycling past this place pretty often I decided to finally give this place a try. I was also attracted by the nice interior with the earthy colors, wood and orange corduroy couches and chairs. We ate sushi here a week ago and ordered a teapot of green tea and the blue and the purple box. Together it’s quite a lot of sushi so enough for two people. It all tasted fresh and delicious. The tea was more than enough for two people to enjoy during your whole meal(like 6 – 7 cups of tea!) and is a nice and relatively cheap choice. We decided to share dessert; Yuzu pie with vanilla ice-cream sounded interesting so we went with that. The yuzu pie tasted a bit like cheese cake but more sour and lighter, it was good. The vanilla ice-cream had a rich flavor and went well with the pie. It was a really nice dinner and costed us only 25 euros(for 2 people!). So this is a great option if you don’t want to spend that much. There is also take-away sushi so I will definitely come back for that as well. The purple box is much recommended! Only downside; the staff. All very young girls. They are not unfriendly but they are very, very slow and not to smart either. But oh well, the food is good and the price is right so just try this.
