Possibly the best Greek food in Amsterdam. Quaint atmosphere. The set up is a bit different. All of the food is premade in a deli case and reheated when ordered. Not ideal but still very good. We mostly just order a wide assortment of appetizers and feast. The grilled octopus is good. The only thing that was odd is you have to pay for pita. Even if you order an appetizer of tzaziki or fish roe spread, if you don’t order(and pay) for pita the spread will come to you in a bowl with a spoon and nothing to spread it on.

So I guess my Greek collegue Nicolas knows what«fresh & good» food means. What a cute little place, we almost had the whole place to ourselfs(9 pers) and there were to small little tables left with 2 couples The owner and his wife are doing a pretty good job making sure that the food is enjoyed. The grilled octupus for starters was so nice however I did miss a little garilc oil. Because I’m a vegetarian Nicolas ordered me a Kolokithokeftedes(say it 3x fast) a freshly baked crunchy fried zucchini ball and It was so yummy that I forgot to take a picture. For the main dish I had shrimps, cole slaw and potato salad, you could order rice/fries but I wanted neither. Shrimps were dipped in lemon/olive oil Dessert just came out of the oven … Sweet. Some kind of pudding with LOADS of sugar, milk & lemon. As this was my 1st greek experience I really don’t have any comparison I enjoyed everything ++++ — Simple food but fresh products — Small cute place — Friendly owners — Open kitchen —– — You have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom — It’s really warm inside, after 2 wines you probably start singing like Nelly — It’s getting hot in herre

Although several prior visits Kept enticing us to return, this latest one was a disaster !!! One single person running we The place; IT felt like she did not know anything, and did not want to be bothered Out of several of our favorites(may be did not feel like cooking…) Out of white wine too Such a shame as IT is a great place for authentic greek FOOD.

Eh. It’s one of those places that’s fine, but nothing special. They reheat the food from what’s in the cold case. The people are friendly and speak very little English. Again, not that it’s bad, just painfully average.

My husband and I love Gyros and these were the best we have ever had outside of Greece. We also loved the hummus and the herbed pita bread. We ended up having lunch here two days in a row! The owners are so nice and the food is so fresh, delicious and authentic. When you enter, it looks like a deli with only about 4 tables. But sit down and enjoy delicious Greek food. A hidden gem. And the prices are very reasonable!

Wow, what a surprise thus place turned out to be. Right next to the hotel, finally stumbled into the place on last night in Amsterdam. Seats 12 people. Run by an older gentleman and wife, this is real home cooked food you can only find at Greek grandma’s house on a Sunday afternoon after church. Had the Lentil Soup, Greek eggplant appetizer, pasticcio,(Greek pasta bake) with garlic, onion oregano, cinnamon, minced lamb topped with a creamy yogurt, egg icing. Moussaka kind of the sameane only with eggplant vs lamb. I grew up in N.Y., which probably has the largest Greek population outside of Athens and have eaten a lot Greek food, have Greek family relatives and can attest to this a serious and excellent Greek tavern food.

The owner and her son were so nice and pleasant while serving us! This is by no means a fancy place. It’s more like a small family-owned deli that serves food on the side. It only has seating for about 10 people. Buuut the food… Oh my goodness, the food. According to my boyfriend, who’s half Greek, «you can only get authentic Greek food like this from a Greek’s house or in Greece.» This was a lofty statement, and I was not let down. We started with the Greek salad with cucumber, tomato, feta, and olives drizzled with olive oil and dried herbs. It was DELICIOUS. We’ve tried ordering this salad from many restaurants, and this is the only one who got the proportions down perfectly. He got the pork gyro, which I had a few bites of. It was really good! The meat was well seasoned, the pita was fluffy, and the tzatziki was deliciously creamy. I got the stuffed red bell pepper and it was also yummy! It’s filled with meat and rice, but something about the seasoning set it apart. I’ve made stuffed bell peppers before, but this tastes like the lady made it with love :) We also shared the calamari. Not a ton of it but it’s actually chewy and fresh, which is more than I can say for a lot of places. All in all, it was a great experience — we left with happy and full tummies, and the prices were very reasonable. I meant to take pictures but I was hungry and the food smelled/looked too good — whoops, sorry!

Great little Greek restaurant. It is quite small, with 6 tables that seat less than 18 guests. This translates into marvelous service and a very homely flavor. Even the kitchen is at arms length, and you can watch how they cook these fresh and delicious dishes. Beware that the dishes are generous by European standards. We were not able to finish two gyros and a salad!

This is right next to our hotel, what an amazing find. Being Greek I am a bit critical of Greek cuisine(my mother is the reference point :-) The food here is authentic and delicious. It is owned and operated by a Greek family and take pride in their good and it’s preparation. A must for anyone seeking authentic and delicious Greek cuisine, unlike many Greek restaurants in the area that are run by non-Greeks.

This was the very first place that I stopped for lunch when we arrived in Europe. We really lucked out. The Grekas Deli makes great fresh Gyros, salads, and really any variety of greek plates. All the items were incredibly fresh and we ended up coming back here time and time again for quick and inexpensive grub.

Extensive and delicious variety of salads and side dishes. Lots of traditional Greek items and some new twists on Mediterranean cuisine. I tried a Gyro with pork(they do not have lamb as a meat option which I though was odd, but no problem), and some potato salad. WOW, best potato salad I have had rivaled only by my mothers. Creamy with lots of dill, and some capers to add a little tang, absolutely scrumptious. We also had a feta spread with warm pita bread that was out of this world, total hit with our crew. The space is small with only a few tables outside. So if you happen to stroll by when they are busy don’t be shy to get your order to go, you can enjoy it just sitting around one of many canals in Amsterdam. All items are very reasonably priced between 8 — 15 euro. You can get desert for under 3.

You could blink and miss this little hole in the wall, but we’re glad we found it. Home cooking Greek deli food — fresh and yummy. I’m pretty sure the ladies behind the counter were the ones that made all of the food — how’s that for authenticity? I felt like I was standing at the back door of their home kitchen. Fully recommend!
