I like stopping in here after my physical therapy treatment, so I can pick up two slices of fresh cut fish. I decided that I was no longer going to purchase prepackage fish at any of the markets. I will only purchase fresh fish. I notice the texture suffers tremendously when I purchase prepackage fish. I notice there is a big difference in the texture of the fish when cooked. Another drawback you have no clue of how long it has been sitting in the store. Plus, it is so refreshing to have someone over the counter answer any of my questions at Centrale Vishandel. The customer service is great here, so I look forward to stopping in here more often.

What can I say? I’m a foreigner, but I love the herring here! It’s the best I’ve tried in Amsterdam. I used to work in this neighborhood so when I needed my weekly dose of Omega 3 and vitamin B12, This was the place to go!
This shop looks SO clean, SO neat and SO organized! without even smelling it you immediately notice that the fish here is fresh. Now as an OCDer, I really appreciate that :)
Like raw herring? Give this place a go! The fresh herring just melts in your mouth with very little chewing effort.
